Chief Architect - UnitedHealthcare Community & State

The Chief Architect is responsible for providing overall leadership, establishing and maintaining technical roadmaps and representing all architecture disciplines for the UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Community & State (C&S) business. They are responsible for leading Business and Solution Architecture, as well as engagement with other Chief Architects across UHC domains and Lines of Business (LOB). Core responsibilities will include: Provide architecture thought leadership (e.g., tool selection, standards, strategic direction, etc.)Work across Operations, C&S business areas and Optum TechnologyLead new business development / RFP work, including presentations to external clients Maintain a rolling 3-year UHC C&S strategic architecture roadmap (and socialize, evolve and obtain buy-in for the roadmap)Participate in ongoing architecture governance activities Participate in leadership discussions regarding new technology introduction and/or enterprise system planning activitiesTranslate technology concepts into business terminologyCreate images, graphics and/or charts that provide exceptional clarity and connections to business objectivesPackage presentations concisely for UHC leadership and other executivesProvide direct leadership to a team of 15 people accountable for Business and Solution architectureSet / mature the vision and strategy for the team Create and foster an environment of innovation - including: remove roadblocks and enable strategic risk taking; advocates and drives change management, enable and model adoption of innovative behaviors and practicesCommit time, focus and energy on the development, coaching and performance feedback for each employee on the team Advocate for the team by moving decisions forward and eliminating barriersIdentify and select the right talent in support of our mission

Candidates will possess: 15 + years of progressive technology leadership experiencesDemonstrated expertise in Business and Solution Architecture Healthcare industry experiences Proven success creating business-enabling 3 year technology roadmapsExperience architecting scalable technology solutions that adjust to cyclical business patternsHistory of engaging with CEO and COO customers and external clients Proven track record of effective working relationships with executives and key business partners to drive change agendasDemonstrated strategic thinking abilities and an enterprise-wide perspectiveHistory of executing with excellence: setting purposeful goals and achieving them through intelligent actions, which balancing competing priorities without losing momentum behind executionExperience leading through influence in a large, matrixed, global environmentPrior people management responsibilities with senior level team members as direct reports Leadership style which fosters accountability, transparent communication and innovation High level of emotional intelligence and confidence Outstanding collaboration, strong influencing, problem solving and negotiation skillsProven ability to sell ideas to others outside of your direct team membersExperience with Digital, Data & Analytics and Open Source technologies strongly preferredMedicaid experiences desired Prior RFP experiences (both writing them and delivering oral presentations to clients) would be of high value Careers with UnitedHealthcare.
