| The Analyst will be part of Moody's Project and Infrastructure Finance Group, working as a member of the Green Bond Assessment team. This is a challenging, high profile role. The Analyst will be responsible for evaluating and assessing green bond transactions by applying Moody's Green Bonds Assessment (GBA) methodology to arrive at a GBA assessment; prepare written materials to support GBA assessments, including in depth issuer reports, press releases and GBA updates. |
This opportunity involves a new and growing business line at Moody's. Having a general understanding of the broader environmental, sustainability and governance practices, in addition to green bond financings, is a benefit for the position. The position also requires the development of a thorough understanding of Moody's GBA rating methodology, its unbiased application as well as thought leadership to evolve the green bond methodology and standards over time.
More specifically, he or she will be responsible for the following:
Conduct initial and on-going credit analysis of green bond assessments
Present in-depth fundamental credit analysis on a regular basis to rating committees and other internal analytical meetings to assign and maintain credit ratings.
Write high quality research reports on individual issuers as well as sector trends.
Participate in outreach events such as investor briefings and teleconferences. Moderate travel is expected.
Build and maintain strong relationships with issuers, investors, intermediaries and colleagues.
Adherence to all applicable regulatory, code of conduct and best practice requirements and standards.
Project Finance & Infrastructure / Green Bond Assessment Initiative - New York
Strong academic background - graduate degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Business or Environmental Science strongly preferred
Excellent communication skills - demonstrated ability to convey complex analytical issues clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing; public speaking experience
Understanding key ESG issues impacting companies; knowledge and experience with environmental issues, climate change, climate finance and sustainability; understanding carbon-dioxide emissions calculation methodologies and approaches across various project categories, market segments and sectors; some environmental sciences skills/education, a plus.
Sound judgment - capable of developing independent opinion and defending own views
Strong quantitative aptitude and proven analytical skills
Highly organized, efficient, and detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines, assuming responsibility for workflow and work product
Ability to ensure ongoing self-development
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
