The Center for Civil-Military Relations (CCMR) in the School of International Graduate Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) invites applications for the position of Faculty Associate-Education as the Defense Governance and Management Team (DGMT) DC Program Support Manager. We are seeking candidates with knowledge in defense institution building, the political and institutional dynamics of partner nation defense and security sectors and relevant institutions, and experience working with country teams and partner nations in contemporary education and consultative/mentoring type environment. In this role, the incumbent works with the faculty and support staff to ensure program operations are designed appropriately to enhance program quality. Support functions include: 1) Program, project, and activity analysis and related research, 2) activity documentation and review, 3) planning, research, and implementation support to DGMT faculty, 4) relevant contracting functions and, 5) coordination and information sharing with program sponsors. The incumbent directly supports the DGMT program in the greater Washington DC area. He/she reports to the DGMT Program Manager.
We are seeking a colleague to join an entrepreneurial and growing team dedicated to working with partner nations, U.S. country teams, U.S. Combatant Commands and Services, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, and OSD Policy to enable partner nations in developing effective, transparent, and accountable defense establishments in support of U.S. and relevant multinational objectives. DIB projects and activities executed by the DGMT, including the Wales Initiative Fund Defense Institution Building (WIF-?DIB) program and the Defense Institution Reform Initiative (DIRI), are the primary Defense Department DIB efforts responsible for collaborating and supporting partners and allies to strengthen and develop their defense sector, build defense institutions and key functions, and are a core element of the Department’s broader security cooperation capability.
The DGMT DC Program Support Manager collaborates with team faculty and program support team to conduct general research and analysis, tracking and supporting reporting, relevant research, program finances and budgeting, documentation of reporting materials, and related items for active country projects and knowledge management initiatives. In this role, the incumbent will assist in guiding support team efforts to identify financial requirements, and document, track and report on budget execution functions. The incumbent will support regional program leads and the knowledge team as they design programs and prepare material for partner nation engagements.
He/she will assist the Program Manager in coordinating and communicating requests for meetings between DGMT Program Manager/team members and program sponsors and stakeholders. The DC Program Support Manager has primary responsibility for coordinating and sharing information with program sponsors and stakeholders.
Job location is Washington DC.
