The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative seeks to add a dynamic and exceptional Project Manager, Operations and Technology to deploy and support systems and tools enabling the success of our team, faculty, program participants and alumni, and leaders in cities around the world. The successful candidate will enjoy working across disciplines and technologies to support a variety of people, projects, and processes. The role spans business analysis, vendor management, project management, and helpdesk support. The Project Manager will work with a range of consulters, freelancers, partners, and colleagues to deliver on our initiative's agenda. Key responsibilities include:
Help us deploy and support tools that advance and enable learning for city leaders. - For our program participants. Work in-person and remotely with mayors and senior city leaders who are participants in our executive education programs. Support their learning via classroom technologies (such as polling and curricular tools), courseware and learning management system, remote web and video conferencing used for interactive post-classroom sessions, and other distance learning tools. - For city leaders at large. Deploy and maintain technology that enable us to share a library of courses, articles, and tools to support learning in cities around the world – and that will be accessible via our initiative's website. Manage the technical development of instructional technology that enables engaging and effective learning in support of the initiative's pedagogical goals.
Help deliver workplace productivity tools that support our team. Work with our team to take advantage of available technologies that help us efficiently and effectively support program participants and the work of the initiative. Help ensure our greatest needs are met at lowest possible cost of ongoing operations. Examples of current needs for support include: pending deployment of a customer relationship management system, rationalization of our various internal knowledge management approaches (e.g. DropBox, network drives), and use of collaboration tools (e.g. Slack) and project management tools.
Manage a first-rate process for the work. - Business Analysis. Gather and document user requirements, research potential tools, and analyze resource implications to recommend product, configuration, and design choices. - Project Management. Develop and manage project plans, track ongoing progress, and perform project resourcing and budgeting. Effectively communicate status, collaborate and problem-solve with relevant stakeholders. Identify, mitigate, and manage risk on projects. - Vendor Management. Manage consultants, partners, internal and external vendors, and developers to deliver products, tools, applications and/or support. Manage technical resources dedicated to projects – ensuring execution proceeds with the rigor, discipline, and adaptability needed for success. - Ongoing maintenance and upgrades. Manage systems and software administration and configuration changes.
Provide first-rate assistance to our team. Ensure provision of high-quality support to enable the use of systems on our team. Train users. Establish clear and easy-to-use guides or instructions. Troubleshoot issues.
Be a great teammate. Foster and contribute to a culture of excellence grounded in learning, problem solving, and teamwork. Collaborate with colleagues to identify recommendations for process improvements. Collaborate with colleagues throughout Harvard to leverage in-place systems and resources where viable including: HKS educational technology team, IT, media services, SLATE; NYC-based Bloomberg classroom media services staff; HBX Live staff; and the HBS technology team.
The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative is a joint effort of Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Business School, in close collaboration with and funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, to advance leadership, management, and innovation in cities. The program aims to equip mayors and their senior leaders with the tools, skills, and support required to tackle complex organizational challenges faced in running cities. The initiative is comprised of executive education (e.g. classes for mayors and senior city government leaders), ongoing support for cities in applying and spreading the learning throughout their organizations (e.g. coaching, workshops, research support), and research and curriculum development (e.g. new cases, tools for the classroom, and knowledge about municipal governance and problem-solving) to advance the field of city leadership around the world.
This is a benefits eligible, term appointment that is scheduled to end on March 20, 2020.

5 year of progressively responsible experience as a business analyst, project manager, product manager, or the equivalent.
·Bachelor's degree preferred.Experience in the field of educational technology, teaching, or training a plus.
·A demonstrated record of success in leveraging technology in the delivery of service operations.
·Skill in performing business analyses, scoping, and documenting requirements / specifications.
·Skill in training and providing clear instruction and assistance to end-users.
