The Associate Director, Office of Research & Strategic Partnerships (Research/Writing) supports the development of all grant narratives through database research and personal outreach to outside foundations, non-profit organizations, and in some instances government. In addition, this Associate Director collaborates on the submission process and the post-award reports for all research projects for Foundation and government grants which calls for this.
The Associate Director is expected to exercise initiative in doing this work, even as she or he functions as part of a cohesive team in the Provost's office with common responsibilities ranging from research support and development for faculty, to archiving grants data.
Identifies and supports relationships with foundations, non-profit and government organizations, through
writing or editing project narratives for letters of introduction, grant proposals, post-award reporting
extensive research in outside databases to identify granting opportunities
reporting grant calls through the monthly Pratt RESEARCH NEWS;
Prepares and submits proposals—project narratives and supporting materials—to appropriate foundations and government agencies, ensuring that proposals represent Pratt, its faculty and its staff as strongly as possible, even as they also meet the criteria articulated by the funder;
Develops and sustains relationships with Pratt faculty and staff, with the aim of understanding the range of work at the Institute (within e.g., schools, research centers, research groups), where support is needed, and how best to match needs with funding opportunities, particularly in foundations and non-profit organizations;
Share responsibilities with the staff team in the Office of Research & Strategic Partnerships to
Establish and manage any special internal competitions for funding
Implement aspects of Pratt's Annual Research Open House
Archive grants data

Salary: commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Experience: The strongest candidates will have four to five years' related experience in foundation relations, and will have a history of obtaining funding.
Knowledge and Skills: Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent research skills, ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, and strong skill in developing and using databases to collect and aggregate information on funding. Must have good organizational, planning and interpersonal skills. Must be able to produce / manage multiple projects under deadline pressures and with keen attention to detail. Must demonstrate inter-cultural competence with an understanding of the importance of diversity in higher education.

Works well in a multi-disciplinary team to contribute to shared responsibilities as noted.
Ability to accept mentorship from team members as well as ability to mentor others
Experience in problem-solving under deadline-driven situations.
