This individual is responsible for the administration, direction, and coordination of all practice activities, except those directly involving professional medical judgment. The Chief Operating Officer reports directly to the President and CEO and is accountable to the Board of Directors. The individual will manage, supervise and/or delegate all administrative aspects of Cleveland Eye Clinic, including practice operations, coordination of clinic and medical staff activities, patient satisfaction, business planning and direction, staff management and benefits programs, budget and finance activity, information technology, facility maintenance, and general administrative services. The COO works collaboratively with the Administrator of the Ambulatory Surgery Center and the manager of Clear Vision LASIK Center.
Bachelor's degree required, along with 5-years' health care managerial experience, (preferably in eyecare) and 10-years' experience working in the health care industry.
Strong operational and financial management skills, including understanding of financial statements and standard accounting principles, and budgetary experience.
Excellent staff management skills and experience with regulatory compliance issues, including but not limited to FSLA, FMLA, EEOC, ADA, state employment regulations, HIPAA and OSHA.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to express himself/herself in writing and orally with clarity and professionalism.
Strong leadership skills including the ability to clearly articulate the vision and goals of the practice, gain trust and respect, prioritize and keep a team focused on the most impactful projects, set appropriate expectations, and maintain accountability.
Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills.
Calm demeanor, exceptional listening skills, and the ability to demonstrate integrity and a fair approach to conflict resolution.
Excellent time management and organizational skills including the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
Working knowledge of business contracts such as lease agreements, third-party payer contracts, employment contracts, shareholder agreements, and vendor agreements; experience with contract negotiation.
Strong knowledge of computers and software programs. Experience with a fully-integrated medical office software package, including electronic medical records (EMR) would be extremely beneficial.
