The Role: This position is a key leadership role within S&P Global Ratings' Vendor & Affiliate Management Office (VMO). The role is instrumental in ensuring that we manage our vendors efficiently, effectively, and in line with policies throughout the vendor lifecycle, including in relation to the vendor's performance, cost, risk, and adherence to contract.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Control the quality and timeliness of procuring and risk assessing vendor services
Review Purchase Requisitions and related contracts (MPSA, MSA, SOWs etc) to control for desired quality standards
As necessary, partner with the Engagement Owner, Legal, and Procurement to negotiate fees, terms and conditions
Review Vendor Risk Assessment outputs to ensure risk has been appropriately assessed
Troubleshoot difficult process issues or complex contract negotiations to prevent delays and/or non-compliance with policy, and otherwise manage "hot vendors"
Implement, and maintain a vendor monitoring framework
Monitor vendor performance to ensure services are provided according to expected standards and cost
Monitor vendors' adherence to their signed contracts and S&P Global Ratings' policies
Ensure that periodic risk re-certifications are completed timely and are carried out appropriately
Collaborate with Engagement Owners and S&P Global Ratings' management to forecast and subsequently manage a pipeline of vendor services
Optimize S&P Global Ratings' ability to procure and manage vendor services efficiently and effectively, including being compliant with policies and procedures
Create and deliver reports and presentations to oversight committees related to the health of the end-to-end vendor lifecycle
Ensure the appropriate policies, SOPs, controls, and guidelines for vendors and affiliates are in place for S&P Global Ratings
Develop and deliver ongoing communication and training to S&P Global Ratings colleagues
Partner with key stakeholders to test controls and assess risks related to vendors and affiliates
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and projects to help mature the vendor & affiliate operating model, including remediation of risk and control issues
Draft and/or review written responses to regulators, internal auditors and other requests for information
Functional and Business Knowledge
Vendor management experience
Experience in setting and executing procurement strategy to maximize total value and minimize risk
Skilled in contract review and/or negotiations, including all relevant business, price and technical terms
Significant knowledge of strategic sourcing processes, policies, and procedures
Extensive experience in vendor performance / service level management (including, preferably, IT services)
Experience with Vendor Risk Management best practices and protocols
First-class communication skills, including an ability to influence stakeholders across the organization, to speak effectively in small and large-group settings, and to write clearly in internal memos, presentations and e-mails and in formal letters to regulators
Able to manage complexity, including in troubleshooting problems or in developing process or other solutions
Very high attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment
Flexible and accommodating work ethic in an ever-changing work schedule
Knowledge of operating in a regulated entity is a plus
Minimum experience and qualifications
7-10 Years in Industry: A Financial Services firm or similar professional work environment
7-10 Years in a Specialty/Discipline: Vendor procurement, contracting and management
