The Role: S&P Global is seeking an experienced and talented Risk Management leader to join the Corporate Risk Management team for the S&P Market Intelligence (MI) business division as an independent Risk Officer (2nd Line of Defense). Along with excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional communication style and the ability to influence key stakeholders, the successful candidate will have technical expertise in risk management and experience formed within Risk, Operations or Quality in a related sector.
This position reports directly to the Head of Business Risk Management.
Develop a risk management approach within the S&P Global Market Intelligence that is aligned to S&P Global's corporate risk management framework
Partner with leaders in the division and of other corporate and divisional control functions (e.g. Internal Audit, Legal, Compliance, Risk Liaisons) to operationalize risk management processes within the division
Be a collaborative partner and an independent challenge function within the business to ensure their decision making process is risk informed and data based
Ensure full transparency is created around the risks of S&P Global Market Intelligence for Risk Management stakeholders (division management, corporate risk management, Enterprise Risk Management Committee and Audit Committee of the Board).
Key Accountability & Decision Rights:
Define and agree divisional risk policies and procedures in alignment with S&P Global's risk management framework
Direct implementation of risk governance and risk reporting standards including communication of those standards to ensure compliance with regulations, if relevant
Active participation in resolution of complex issues and produce and present associated artefacts, e.g. risk logs, mitigating action tracking, risk reports, management presentations
Work with leaders across the organization to help define risk appetite, risk tolerance and other critical risk measures for S&P Global Market Intelligence
Facilitate the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of division risks through assessments and control mapping exercises
Stay abreast of industry related events and enhancements to understand how they can help mitigate potential risks to the company
Represent Risk Management within the regional S&P Global Governance boards, including producing and presenting country risk assessments
Experience of implementing and operationalizing risk frameworks. Also requires broad knowledge of relevant operational structure, e.g. Technology / Operations knowledge
Ability to develop ideas independently and translate them into concise presentations and reports (board level)
Track record of global, cross-country collaboration to address risk related issues across lines of business, functions and geographies.
Problem Solving: Uses conceptual and innovative thinking (i.e., identifying new/different solutions) to solve issues. Looks beyond immediate problems for wider implications and determines best path forward.
Interpersonal Skills: Requires highly developed communications skills and ability to negotiate internally (fact based and credible). Needs to be a self-starter who can build relationships and uses judgement when working with partners to ensure effective outcomes. Needs to have the qualities of a team player and a business partner.
Nature of Impact: Directly impacts the professional and/or technical direction and strategy for a discipline through shaping and designing new policies, procedures and standards. This will help the organization to manage divisional risks in a more formalized and effective way.
Leadership & Scope: Manages own work with limited supervision.
Established expert in Risk Management with at least 5-8 years of experience in the financial information and analytics business. Experience at Top 4 consulting firms or a Financial Information provider is a plus.
Cross divisional to all risk liaisons
Cross functional to other control functions (Audit, Ratings Risk Review, Compliance)
