Working Title: Assistant Director of Residence Life Leadership Development & Outreach
Appointment Type: AS-Renewable
This position is a 12-month, full-time academic staff appointment, reporting to the Director of Residence Life.
The Assistant Director of Residence Life-Leadership Development and Outreach is an integral member of the Residence Life Leadership Team. The Assistant Director of Residence Life-Leadership Development and Outreach is responsible for direction and management of the Residence Life student government groups including serving as the advisor for the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH); Department marketing, communications, and assessment; and summer camps and conferences housing. The Assistant Director of Residence Life-Student Leadership and Outreach will have direct supervision of a graduate student intern and summer staff; and indirect supervision responsibilities for fulltime Hall Directors and graduate-intern Assistant Hall Directors. There is weekly evening work and some weekend work required of this position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field
At least two years post-Master's fulltime experience or three years post-Bachelor's experience in Residence Life or Student Affairs
Ability to provide leadership, direction, and management for initiatives and projects, as demonstrated with effective decision-making, organizational, and task-management skills
Experience advising student groups
Experience training and supervising students and/or professional staff
Knowledge of marketing, branding, social media, and/or web development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and other members of the community
Success as a team player
Availability to work some nights and weekends
Experience advising residence life student leadership groups (i.e. Residence Hall Association, Hall Council/Government, National Residence Hall Honorary)
Experience working with and/or managing summer camps and conference housing
Ability to compose written material with a succinct message and free of spelling or grammatical errors
Ability to organize materials and ideas to communicate them effectively in a variety of forms
