The Undergraduate (UG) Coordinator of the Simulation Center works under the direction of the Director of Simulation and Learning Resources and in collaboration with the Graduate Simulation Center Coordinator, the Learning Resource Coordinators, undergraduate and graduate faculty to provide a safe and supportive simulation environment that assists students in the integration of knowledge, effective communication, role, professional values, and praxis in the laboratory setting.
Provide a safe learning environment for all nursing students.
Assist with coordinating experiential learning experiences in the Simulation Center days and evenings, Monday-Saturday during the academic year.
Promote a learning environment that encourages students to creatively seek new techniques in critical thinking.
Collaborate with Director of Simulation and Learning Resources, other Simulation Center Coordinators, Learning Resource Coordinators, and Clinical Course Coordinators to assist students in meeting simulation, lab, and clinical objectives.
Assist with supervision of students as appropriate.
Assist students in seeking out opportunities for clinical growth.
Assist with maintaining the calendar of events for the simulation center.
Proficiently facilitate simulation sessions briefings, simulation, and debriefing (75% of the role will be in facilitation of simulations)
Assist with manikin and simulation resource troubleshooting and maintenance.
Collaborate with Director of Simulation and Learning Resources to support, develop, and grow the simulation program.
Attend all faculty meetings as a voting member.
Serve as an advisor or an identified group of undergraduate students.
Education / Experience:
Master's degree in Advanced Practice Nursing or Nursing Education preferred. Baccalaureate degree in nursing required with current acute care clinical practice experience. Experience running simulations in baccalaureate and graduate nursing education settings.
Competencies / Skills:
Experience in baccalaureate and master's education, and current acute care clinical practice. Medical/Surgical inpatient experience and/or advanced practice clinical experience preferred but not required. Familiarity with principles of teaching, learning, student evaluation, and accreditation. Coordination, collaboration, negotiation, and advocacy skills. Proficiency with simulation equipment (manikins, task trainers, videotaping). Experience in simulation briefing, facilitation, and debriefing.

Mental Demands: -Ability to think through clearly amid changing priorities and circumstances. -Maintain professional attitude and demeanor in competitive and challenging environment. -Ability to multitask in a very busy academic environment. -Exercise sound judgment. -Maintain high level of confidentiality. -Ability to be creative and negotiate effectively to create high quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Monday – Friday, possible Saturdays and evenings: 35 hours per week
