GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This position is responsible for program planning, reviewing and overseeing improvements to the City of College Park infrastructure. Responsible for traffic management and engineering, addressing residential complaints, utilities review, permitting and coordination, local storm drainage, interacting with counties in area-wide storm drain issues, interacting with GDOT in area maintenance issues, addressing various concerns of City Council and providing engineering consultation to community organizations for various community projects.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Work with the Special Project Coordinator, and City Attorney and Council in establishing city standards and policies for development and construction. Supervise, inspect, communicate and evaluate work performed by developers and contractors on in-progress city funded, utility and private construction projects; Perform regular field inspections on new infrastructure to ensure compliance with city ordinances and construction standards. Plan, direct, and provide guidance and department operations. Monitor work in progress and evaluate employee performance. Conduct staff meetings and establishes work project priorities. Request information from or provide assistance to federal, state, and city agencies, businesses, utilities, and other regarding transportation, drainage, or construction issues. Conduct special engineering and transportation studies and investigations related to traffic, hydrology, and capital improvements. Prepare and recommend design and construction standards for projects within the county; serve as project manager for assigned county funded projects. Enforce and administer city construction codes, erosion, and sediment control ordinances. Develop annual department operating budget; monitor and control expenditures within approved budgets. Prepares regular reports on department activities; prepares and presents studies and reports to City Manager and Council; attends Council meetings as needed and advises Council on engineering matters. Perform other related duties as assigned.
