Hip, Historic…Almost Heaven Charleston, West Virginia, is a destination that embodies the aspirations of the creative class. Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains at the confluence of two scenic rivers, Charleston is a capital city with small-town charm. Its “almost heaven” moniker resonates with travelers worldwide who know the famous John Denver song “County Roads”. With world-class food, arts, recreation and music, set against a scenic and historic backdrop, travelers’ visits to Charleston are inspirational. Charleston is also the gateway to all that is wild and wonderful in the Mountain State, situated just one hour from outstanding whitewater rafting, kayaking, mountain climbing, biking, hiking, zip lining, ATV trail riding and unique artisan shopping.
The tourism industry in Charleston generates $550 million annually in economic impact supporting 5,000 jobs and generating nearly $50 million in taxes.
