This position is located in the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Operations Administration, Street and Bridge Maintenance Division. The incumbent is responsible for managing the operations and activities of the Street and Bridge Maintenance Program throughout the District of Columbia.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent plans, directs, and monitors, bridge and street maintenance programs. The employee will ensure that projects and activities are in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines and ensure the effective repair and safe operational and/or reliable conditions of streets, curbs, alleys, and sidewalks, traffic islands and fences through subordinate supervisors and staff. The individual will serve as a leader of the entire Street and Bridge Maintenance branch, therefore directing an inspection program, and maintenance and repair program for all District-owned roadways, alleys, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and bridges within public ROW/space.
The incumbent ensures the completion of extensive research and surveys as necessary to compile current and involving information in narrative and statistical formats concerning branch responsibilities, and, as a result, determine long- and short-range program goals; this includes anticipating changes in in function, peoplepower, equipment, resource, or changes in operations and organizational structure. The Program Manager will direct activities related to the preparation, administration and execution of the branch budget, including forecast of future expenditure requirements. The selected candidate will also oversee and coordinate through subordinate supervisors, the effective planning and execution of snow removal for which the branch is responsible in accordance with the DC Snow Removal Program.
Individual must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience includes supervisory work related to maintenance, construction, project management and project delivery, implementation of policies and procedures, analysis, management and oversight; or similar work experience.
