We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join our team as Nurse Manager for Oncology/Hematology.
Coordinate nursing care with other healthcare disciplines and assist in integrating services across the continuum of health care. Participate and involve the nursing staff in evaluative research activities to promote evidence-based practice and facilitate educational experiences for nursing students.
Participate in nursing and organizational policy formulation and decision-making involving staff, such as in shared governance and accept organizational accountability for services provided to recipients. Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of health care and encourage shared accountability for professional practice.
Assess the impact of plans and strategies to address ethnic, cultural, and diversity changes in the population; political and social influences; financial and economic issues; the aging of society and demographic trends; ethical issues related to health care; environmental influences on health.
Participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of personnel, including staff representative of the population diversity. Provide appropriate orientation for new staff, and provide individual feedback on staff development and progress. Encourage staff members to attain education, credentialing, and continuing professional development. Provide guidance for and supervision of personnel accountable to the nurse manager and evaluate performance of personnel in a fair and transparent manner. Provide an open forum of communication with staff, allowing them ample opportunities to discuss issues and seek guidance.
Develop, implement, and monitor the budget for their defined area(s) of responsibility.
Assume oversight for staffing and scheduling personnel considering scope of practice, competencies, patient needs, and complexity of care.
Bachelor’s Degree, Nursing.
Current and valid NYS Registered Professional Nurse license.
3 – 5 years Clinical Nursing experience in an acute environment.
1 – 2 years Leadership or supervisory experience.
Excellent communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree Nursing or related field. As per individual area/unit, Certification in clinical and/or nurse executive specialty recommended.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
