The Department of Enrollment Management at IU Fort Wayne encompasses admissions, student financial services, registrar, advising, and student success. Enrollment Management develops and implements strategies that leads to the campus' viability. We do this from the perspective of enhancing the experience of our students from the point of recruitment through graduation.
With a dotted reporting line to the IU Fort Wayne associate vice chancellor of academic affairs and operations, the communications specialist is responsible for implementing strategic marketing and communication plans for the IU Fort Wayne campus. This position will develop CRM strategies; edit and assist in the production of admissions marketing materials; generate and publish social media content; ensure web content is up-to-date and relevant for prospective students, their families, recruitment partners, and the general public; and communicate the impact of IU Fort Wayne across a wide spectrum of internal and external audiences and strengthen its reputation among key stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Execute a comprehensive admissions and campus-wide communications, marketing, branding, recruitment, and outreach strategy that is consistent with the strategic goals, plans and aspirations of IU Fort Wayne, IUPUI and IU. Create key messaging and copy that can be used consistently across all integrated marketing channels.
Oversee all undergraduate admissions communication for IU Fort Wayne including recruitment mailings, processing communications, and admissions letters.
Manage and expand as appropriate the IU Fort Wayne website (iufw.edu). Provide recruitment and admissions communications, media relations, internal communications and storytelling support to academic and administrative units. Ensure adherence to the branding guidelines and standards set by IU.
Write news releases, news tips, feature articles, other stories and for a wide variety of internal and external audiences and publicize to targeted audiences, which may include local, regional, and/or national media.
Create successful collaborative relationships with IU Fort Wayne leadership, schools and other campus offices in the development of materials and content for new and prospective students and their families, the campus community, recruitment partners, the general public and the media. Establish and maintain relationships with members of the media, respond to their requests in a timely, accurate and professional manner and stay informed of the latest news trends pertaining to IU Fort Wayne and higher education, in general.
Maintain social media accounts (Twitter (@IPFW), Facebook and Instagram). Create content that is designed to cultivate prospective students and increase engagement and awareness of IU Fort Wayne.
Meet regularly with the IUPUI admissions staff and the IU Fort Wayne associate vice chancellor of academic affairs to discuss and assess current and future needs and marketing campaigns.
Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience in admissions, recruitment, marketing, and/or a related area.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Experience managing social media content and applications for a college, business, government agency, or other organization. Experience writing and editing social media or web content, emails, publications, etc. Strong work ethic who is a team player and has the ability to work well in a diverse and fast paced environment. Strong computer skills. Strong design skills. Strong writing/editing skills. Ability to work both independently under limited supervision and also collaboratively as a member of a team, use discretion and independent judgment, and provide complex solutions.
