NYU Wagner prepares the world's public service leaders to translate ideas into actions that have an effective and lasting impact. The Financial Access Initiative (FAI) is a grant-funded research center housed at NYU Wagner focused on how financial services can better meet the needs and improve the lives of poor households around the world.
FAI currently has a full-time, grant-funded opportunity for a researcher to participate in a series of studies and reports about household financial security, small and medium enterprise finance, financial inclusion, digital finance and fintech and related topics. This includes studies both in the US and in developing countries.
Provide general research support
Manage and analyze data/graphics using STATA, Excel and other software packages
Conduct literature reviews for research projects
Use survey data, publicly available government data, and other administrative data
Summarize project results for academic papers
Write, review, and edit various materials for publication
Track and reconcile departmental financial transactions
*This is a 18-24 month grant funded position with the possibility of renewal.*
Demonstrated experience in quantitative or qualitative research
Knowledge of financial inclusion, microfinance and/or related topics relevant to FAI's research agenda
Proficient writing and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work on multiple projects at once
Positive attitude, willingness to pitch in and help out on assignments as needed
Proactive and self starter
Interest in research on the subject of financial inclusion
Proficient with MS Office Suite applications: MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
Experience with statistical software STATA
Experience with and interest in web publication, podcasting, social media and other communication platforms for sharing research a plus
International experience (living or working) a plus
Fluency in languages other than English a plus
