The Chief Technology Office (CTO) organization is leading technology and Agile transformation in a multi-cloud technology landscape by developing and delivering high-quality, innovative banking products to our customers with speed to market agility. The CTO organization encompasses Agile Transformation, Enterprise Architecture, Development & Cloud Enablement, Enterprise Application Hosting Services (Cloud, Middleware, Site Reliability Engineering, CI/CD), Enterprise Services & Product Management, Platform Management, Strategy, and Chief Operating Office-Business Services & Risk and Governance.
As part of CTO, Enterprise Architecture (EA) has a critical role in driving this transformation. The EA teams act as gatekeepers of the Wells Fargo Technology Platform and Portfolio ( 6,000 applications) with accountability for thought leadership, technology guidance, standards decisions, and governance of technology transformation throughout the enterprise. This is an interdisciplinary effort that requires all stakeholders to partner seamlessly and drive the execution with efficient and effective use of process, practice and standards respectively.
To accomplish this transformational shift, we are looking for a Technology Initiatives Manager with extensive hands-on experience in software development, enterprise architecture, strategy, and contemporary technology practices to help drive a consistent and impactful technology transformation within Wells Fargo. The role will engage the key stakeholders from CTO, Architecture, CIO development, and risk management to identify capabilities across CI/CD, Middleware/Platform, Cloud and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) competencies; systematically improve them through Agile sprints with a product development mindset; drive awareness and ensure impact is understood. As a thought-leader, they will also recommend and facilitate the rationalization, prioritization and delivery of change initiatives from incubation to operationalization through a defined process. This represents an opportunity to advance core business practices, enable new business and technology capabilities, and fuel the parallel business and IT transformation.
Key responsibilities include:
Identify disruptive and strategic innovations, products and practices across CI/CD, Middleware/Platform, Cloud and SRE from industry trends, advocate their awareness and adoption as appropriate.
Partner with key stakeholders to manage the development of capabilities collaboratively with a product mindset; then oversee and lead the operationalization and adoption with a relentless focus on quality and timely delivery.
Lead working sessions to review and assess enterprise processes and practices related to CI/CD, Platforms, Middleware, APIs, Cloud, Containers, Container-Orchestration platforms, SRE, etc.
Influence architecture development practices to be agile, nimble and software-driven. Champion the optimal development of architecture for functional and non-functional requirements based on standards and patterns.
Communicate strategy and direction to executive/senior management and technical teams including engineering and development teams; present solutions, recommendations and reports to executives.
Ensure alignment between planning, business architecture, application architecture, data architecture, engineering, and operations risk management.
Directly influence senior-level Architects; mentor and enable them to deliver reference implementations along with reference architecture.
Directly influence engineering teams, engineering managers, application developers and CIOs; engage them with constructive dialog to develop shared platform capabilities.
Codify standards into existing and emerging patterns and operationalize the awareness, adoption, adherence and enforcement of patterns.
Initiate and drive collaboration with divisions sponsoring initiatives to optimize investment decisions.

12+ years of technology experience
5+ years of strategic planning in a technology environment
3+ years of leadership experience in a technology environment
3+ years of experience with secure DevOps and deployment automation to cloud environments
2+ years of experience in planning and managing cloud application migration and large scale cloud platform deployment
Experience managing large or multiple technology development efforts within a major line of business
Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
Experience applying new technologies to business needs in a technologically innovative , change-driven organization
Experience developing well-defined plans for problem resolution from preliminary or ambiguous information
Meeting facilitation experience in leading discussions that result in consensus and commitment
Ability to manage initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation
Other Desired Qualifications
Experience integrating and securing private and public cloud environments such as AWS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Azure, etc.
Experience with container solution implementations, preferably Docker or Kubernetes
Prior hands-on experience with event-driven design and working with related tools like Kafka for streaming
Experience designing microservices for deployment on an internal or public cloud platform/environment
Experience applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts
Willingness to work on-site at stated location on the job opening
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
