The Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy is committed to preparing students to be leaders in scientific and professional pharmacy. Located in Brooklyn, NY, LIU Pharmacy is an anchor point along the emerging Long Island (I-495) Biotech Corridor, and critical to expanding research, education and economic development in the large and growing pharmaceutical and generics industry sector. LIU Pharmacy provides innovative education, research, and career opportunities for Healthcare, and is preparing Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists for advanced practice in the digital age.
The Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy, the nation's second oldest pharmacy school, is a critical component in the continued success of the University's vision for Health, and building synergies with the nation's newest School of Veterinary Medicine also at LIU. LIU has entered into a major partnership with Dassault Systems and the 3DS Platform in order to usher in a new digital research and education modality. This new partnership will propel several exciting new partnerships, including major corporate initiatives in Drug Discovery and Design, Digital Healthcare, Health and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Advanced (GMP) Manufacturing, Precision Medicine and Radiopharmaceuticals. The College of Pharmacy plays a central role in advancing these initiatives, which will position the College at the forefront of pharmacy education and research.
The Dean is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the College of Pharmacy with primary responsibility for education, research, administration, student affairs, budget, and external relations with the College's constituencies. The Dean's primary responsibilities will be to develop and build new, integrated research, education and innovation platforms, assisting LIU bring new startups, technologies and business to the LIU innovation ecosystem across health, life sciences and pharmacy, while stimulating research-based, global innovation, increased research funding, and increased enrollment through domestic and international partnerships.
The Dean will be responsible for academic programs, faculty development and professional student affairs in the four professional years of the PharmD program. In addition, the Dean of pharmacy will lead the development, assessment and improvement of all academic programs. It is imperative that the Dean has a vision for a comprehensive and integrated digital health emphasis across campuses.
The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader who possesses demonstrated leadership in education, research or practice, and substantial administrative experience, strong scholarly visibility within the academic community, and the capacity to exercise intellectual leadership at the local, state, national, and international levels. The successful candidate will enable and inspire faculty, staff, preceptors, and students toward achievement of the College's mission and goals.
Requirements: • A Pharm.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent professional degree • Distinguished leadership experience with substantial administrative experience and a record of scholarly achievement in teaching or research and/or accomplishments in practice • A demonstrated strong commitment to pharmacy education, the importance of pharmacy in health care delivery, service and outreach to promote pharmacy, wellness and improving health outcomes for patients, particularly those populations that are medically underserved • A record of advancing diversity • Proven success or aptitude for relating positively with students, faculty, pharmacy practitioners, alumni, pharmaceutical industry representatives, pharmacy association leaders, the business community, and state and local government officials • The ability to build and sustain strong teaching and research relations with educational and research partners, promote interests for pharmacy practice, and develop funding for research and academic programs • The ability to strategically lead a vision for pharmacy and ensure that the College's academic and research programs are positioned to overcome challenges and realize that vision • The ability to lead, support, develop, and recruit a distinguished, accomplished, and diverse faculty of pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists • The ability to manage budgets, projects, and allocated resources and prioritize goals • Exceptional social and interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills • Credentials that merit appointment at the rank of full professor
