Provide multimedia services supporting the instructional activities of the faculty, as well as non-academic special events across campus. This includes, but is not limited to, coordination of the scheduling, operation, set-up, and maintenance of all multimedia requests from faculty, staff, and student groups. Support is delivered to students, faculty, staff, and outside groups in classrooms, residence halls, computing labs, event spaces, and other locations that require technical support. The Media Support Specialist maintains a cooperative working relationship with the OIT Service Desk. May be required to work nights and/or weekends with short notice. Periodic on-call duties required. This position reports to the Media Services Team Leader.
Responsible for planning and overseeing delivery, setup, operation, and retrieval of media equipment in response to daily scheduled requirements. Set up projection, computer, and audio technology for campus events including audio recording and videotaping of various events and classes, including interacting directly with speakers and senior staff of the College. Support may be required during evenings and weekends.
Provide tier one and two support for the College community in response to assigned OIT Service Desk tickets and established equipment maintenance schedules. Install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain multimedia equipment (both fixed and mobile). Service locations include offices, classrooms, residence halls, computing labs, event spaces, and other locations that require multimedia support.
Monitor equipment functionality, condition, usage, and security including: 1) perform a bi-annual equipment inventory, 2) ongoing maintenance of the equipment inventory 3) perform routine and ongoing equipment maintenance accompanied by a monthly summary to the Media Services Team Leader, 4) recommend audio-visual hardware/software solutions, 5) ensure that all Media Services equipment is kept well organized and secure throughout the campus.
Provide video-encoding and editing support for classes, events presentations and ceremonies.
Provide hardware/software assessment and purchase recommendations in response to work orders with oversight by the Media Services Team Leader. Communicate with hardware/software vendors in the normal course of problem resolution.
All other tasks as assigned by the Media Services Team Leader.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Media, Information Science, or a related discipline is preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. Ability to work in a team setting. Must demonstrate the ability to be effective working independently.
Competencies / Skills:
The core competency of this position is the support of events and classroom AV technology, including consulting with customers, maintaining event calendars, providing support to events, scheduling student worker technicians to aid in support of events and other duties related to event planning, and to provide technical assistance with the AV equipment in campus event spaces.
