This temporary position will work on projects under the direction of Leslie B Hammer, PhD. This research is focused on improving the physical and mental well-being of workers through interventions designed to increase employee-supportive behaviors at all leadership levels. Her research focuses on ways in which organizations can help reduce work and family stress and improve positive spillover by facilitating both formal and informal workplace supports such as Family Supportive Supervisor Behavior training. She has studied workplace intervention with such employee populations as grocery and service industry, health care, construction, information technology, and government, as well as many others. Her current work extends this supportive supervisor training in the military domain.
The temporary Research Assistant will work specifically on the recently-funded follow up data collection for the Military Employee Sleep and Health (MESH) Stud. This will involve setting up a survey in REDCap from an already-existing survey, distributing and then downloading and cleaning data. The RA will also answer questions from participants regarding the study and any technical issues they may have.Finally, the researcherwill assist in the preparation of presentations, reports and manuscripts as needed.
Bachelors Degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research/No experience ORAA (2 yr)and 3 years of relevant experience.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Some experience working with computer software application SPSS.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge and application of gathering, compiling, and reporting research information.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills, writing and proof-reading skills.
Ability to create study start-ups including all related IRB submissions and source documents.
Experience with subject recruitment and contact database maintenance.
Ability to exercise discretion when dealing with issues of a sensitive nature and to maintain research integrity.
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, to prioritize effectively and achieve deadlines.
Specialized experience in recruitment with particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.
Experience with REDCap or other online surveys.
Ability to gather, compile, analyze and maintain, in a range of formats, information from a variety of sources, including research publications, web sources, and internal and external contacts.
This position is currently teleworking as OHSU is in modified operations.
