Located in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula midway between the State Capitol in Lansing and Grand Rapids, the City of Ionia is seeking a dynamic administrator who will thrive in a stable, historic small-town environment. The city is situated along the scenic Grand River and located at the intersection of two well-traveled State Trunk Lines (M-66 & M-21). Two international airports are within an hour drive for convenient connections to major U.S. metropolitan areas.

Ionia is a full-service, council-manager city with 11,400 residents and is the county seat for Ionia County (population, 65,000). Inmates are part of the Census population figure. The city has a classic downtown business and government district with brick pavement and architecturally appealing facades. Its general fund budget is $5 million with a 21 percent fund balance. When all funds are combined, the 2020 annual budget totals approximately $22 million. The primary source of revenue for the general fund is the city income tax.

The city offers a competitive compensation package which will include a starting salary within the range of $110,000 to $135,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
