The Business Risk and Control Associate is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring a risk-based program to identify, assess, and mitigate any operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events, while maintaining a balance between risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
Key duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to:
Provide oversight to an operational risk program.
Work with assigned business units and provide operational risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk.
Provide senior-level support for systems security-related issues.
Develop testing strategies and methodologies; evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems, and internal controls; analyze business and/or systems changes to determine impact; identify and assess operational risk issues and assign risk ratings consistent with established policy standards.
Consult with business to develop corrective action plans and effectively manage change.
Identify training opportunities; may design/coordinate the development of training materials and deliver training.
Report findings and draft recommendations to mitigate risk to operational risk and business line management.
Coordinate production of periodic operational risk performance reports for senior management, including trend analysis and recommended strategies.
2+ years of experience in risk (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management demonstrated through work or military) or 1+ year in the foregoing or financial services industry and a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization

Vendor Management experience
Customer Complaints Resolution experience
ECaR, UW, and other Consumer Banking SOR experience
Exceptional critical thinking skills, specifically with the ability to continually learn complex line of business processes and then assess for effectiveness, unmitigated risk, and opportunities for enhancement
The ability to demonstrate outstanding writing in a risk management capacity when reporting results of process reviews
The ability to identify and document risks and controls in a process
The ability to influence and negotiate with senior management and their staff
An understanding of both operational and compliance risks and controls within business processes
Demonstrated experience in business process analysis and development of structured process
Prior experience with a demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of Operational Risks and Controls
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messages based on the audience
Process Management and Project Management skills
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
