GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, MGH/MGPO IS Business Relationship Management, the incumbent is responsible for the management of medium to large projects and/or sub-projects; and the resources associated with these projects. This position leads a team of Project Specialists and Applications Analysts who perform both project work as well as provide liaison services to a number of clinical and administrative departments at MGH. This team will provide guidance and direction for MGH/MGPO departments when engaging Mass General Brigham IS. Responsibilities include oversight of staff who participate in the management of business and technical tasks associated with small to medium projects, technology governance processes including technology assessments, and support for a variety of business and clinical departments. Additionally the department assists the hospitals business community (clinical and administrative)to implement technology solutions in a deliberate and effective way by determining the business problem, business and technical requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to all stakeholders, and confirming these expectations are aligned with technology direction for Partners. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Use/s the Mass General Brigham values to govern decisions, actions and behaviors. These values guide how we get our work done: Patients, Affordability, Accountability & Service Commitment, Decisiveness, Innovation & Thoughtful Risk; and how we treat each other: Diversity & Inclusion, Integrity & Respect, Learning, Continuous Improvement & Personal Growth, Teamwork & Collaboration. • Oversight for staff who serve in a liaison role working closely with end-users to define problem statements, business needs, technical requirements (functional and non-functional), and recommended solutions. Solutions must comply with Mass General Brigham IS standards and strategic directions. • Provide direction to staff to plan, manage, and execute systems analysis and design activities, including: o Assess business problem, define scope and objectives around proposed solutions o Gather business requirements, functional and nonfunctional requirements, and specifications o Conduct feasibility studies and provide recommendations o Conduct system testing/quality assurance o Assist with system implementation, including training, and post-implementation support o Organize and manage project administrative activities and documentation; project plans, use cases, specifications, diagrams. o Help to align all new technology requests with strategic initiatives enterprise wide • Participate in departmental and enterprise-wide projects with an emphasis on new technology integration with the Mass General Brigham environment. • Establish relationships with vendors and key industry leaders. Keep ongoing communication with vendors to be aware and understand the evolution of existing products and introduction of new products and services. • Provide direction and guidance to team members to facilitate timely and quality results. • Coordinate and provide on-going project status reports to internal IS management, stakeholders, and project steering committee as appropriate. • Promotes and encourages staff to provide high quality customer service, recognizing both IS and MGH clinical and administrative communities as equal and valued customers. Functions as a role model for customer service. • Works with direct reports, IS department management and Human Resources staff to ensure that all of their staff are being appropriately informed, supported, trained, guided and evaluated. Works to develop staff for project/team leadership roles. Constantly reassesses the allocation of staffing resources to meet the changing needs of the staff as well as that of Mass General Brigham • Evaluates overall employee performance, doing annual performance reviews of direct reports in a timely and thorough manner and performs all other functions which constitute proper supervision of staff under his/her direction. • Other duties as assigned. • Approximately 7+ direct FTEs in addition to matrixed individuals and consultants. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required. Masters degree preferred. • Must have 3 years experience in a relevant field with experience in complex information system implementations and/or support of those systems. • Must have 1+ years management experience in a complex healthcare environment. • Prefer 5 years experience in a healthcare (allied, direct care) professional role. SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES: • Proven ability to manage multiple levels of staff and projects in both a direct and matrix reporting environment. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of organization. • Demonstrated excellence in navigating very complex community/political landscapes and understanding the influence of the market/industry position on individual sites as well as the whole of the Mass General Brigham and its impact over areas of responsibility. • Exhibits strong professional and proficient persona. • Demonstrated expertise in achieving consensus in highly charged arenas. • Excellent record of successfully solving complex problems across diverse departments and domains both internal and external to IS. • Demonstrated commitment to delivery of high quality customer service. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Standard office environment with regular travel to different Mass General Brigham sites.
