General Summary/Overview Mass General Brigham is working to build the next generation of healthcare by investing in digital solutions, analytics, and big data. As part of this initiative, we formed the Digital Health Innovation (DHI) team, with the charter to support and encourage digital innovation across Mass General Brigham by partnering with innovative internal and external stakeholders to find solutions to healthcare's most pressing problems. The DHI team is composed of a talented group of analyst, project managers, and technical subject matter experts who work hand in hand with innovators at Mass General Brighams' academic medical centers (Brigham Women's and Mass General), community hospitals, and start-ups to launch pilots of digital products, build core infrastructure to support innovation, and forge partnerships. The Integration Architect will be a key technical resource within the DHI team. This position will be responsible for technical assessments of potential DHI projects spanning integration, resource and effort scoping, timing and definition of deliverables necessary to implement innovative digital products. This role will be critical in implementation of new technology, by defining feasibility, scoping projects, and working with other Epic experts to execute. Principal Duties and Responsibilities As a member of the Information Systems Enterprise Integration Group, the Integration Architect will be embedded in the Digital Health Innovation team and will support innovation efforts by evaluating, scoping, designing, and project managing innovation projects, products, and vendors that integrate with Partners' Epic EMR. The Integration Architect will act as the lead technical resource defining the technical feasibility of projects coming into the DHI pipeline and will work with vendors to identify their product's required integrations with Epic and design integration architecture using FHIR, SMART, OAuth2, HL7v2, APIs, extracts, and other methods. This role will work with DHI innovation specialists to create technical spec documents along with pertinent project management documents such as requirements and resource plans. Responsibilities: • Definition of technical and functional requirements • Feasibility analysis • Integration and system design • Epic roadmap awareness • Resource scoping and definition • System testing / Quality assurance • Liasion with eCare builders & developers and other teams across the enterprise • Project plan development and other administrative activities Qualifications Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree required. • Epic experience across multiple modules desired. • Epic certifications a plus • At least 5 years Healthcare Integration experience required, especially at an academic medical facility or healthcare focused technology company. • Knowledge of common data interchange methods and technologies including but not limited to FHIR, SMART, OAuth2, HL7v2, APIs, SOAP, REST, HIE/IHE, XML, JSON, DTL, etc. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Key Competencies • Broad knowledge of Epic functionality, data structure, and interface architecture across applications. • Understanding of integrations, data flow, and healthcare integration. • Ability to work independently and as a team member. • Ability to prioritize workload according to service pressures. • Fundamental understanding of SDLC and project management processes. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required • Proven technical and project management skills, including ability to scope work, provide accurate time estimations and identify and mitigate risks required. • Ability to maintain details projects plans, timelines and status reports • Ability to manage technical aspects of project and work with other resources at Mass General Brigham to deliver integrations and other technical work. • Demonstrated ability to problem solve with other members of the team and resolve complex issues. Utilize active listening skills to understand business challenges. • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate between real-life workflows and technical requirements. • Ability to learn and understand Mass General Brighams' enterprise landscape and various departments within. • Ability and discipline to work within small team. • Ability to work in matrixed organization. Supervisory Responsibility The Integration Architect has as no direct reports. Fiscal Responsibility • There is no direct fiscal responsibility Working Conditions The hours are usually Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM but vary according to the demands on this exempt salaried position. Time may be split between corporate offices and in hospital-based environments. The work environment is very busy and dynamic. Staff is very collaborative and work together to solve issues. There are often multiple conversations occurring at the same time - the staff needs to be able to handle an environment that is not quiet. The employee is required to travel to any Mass General Brigham facilities to attend off-site meetings. This includes travel to new client sites.
