General Summary Overview Statement: Mass General Brigham Information Services at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute supports the Division of Philanthropy & the Jimmy Fund which raises funds for research and patient care from a variety of sources including corporations, foundations and individual donors, and through hundreds of fundraising events. Position Overview: The Business Analyst/Applications Analyst II on the Information Services team supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Division of Development & the Jimmy Fund. In this role, the analyst will provide project, application, and training support to users of fundraising and events systems. The Analyst will work on small to medium sized projects to gather and document user/business requirements, write specifications, and develop and execute test plans. The Analyst will conduct training classes, maintain training materials, and make education presentations to fundraising staff. Additional responsibilities include responding to application inquiries through a shared mailbox, managing and tracking requests, writing mailing list specifications, writing user documentation, and training users. The Analyst may also serve as project lead on projects as needed. Prior experience working in a fundraising environment is helpful. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Provide direct day-to-day application support to users of fundraising and related applications. Investigate, analyze, and resolve application questions and problems. Serve as analyst or lead analyst on a variety of assigned projects. Perform data analysis, write business and functional requirements, develop use cases and perform application testing, configure and implement new features. Effectively facilitate project meetings, as needed. Take initiative and follow through in solving business/application problems. Manage project scope. Work effectively on teams comprised of business analysts, technical staff, subject matter experts, and fundraising staff. Train users on fundraising applications, business processes, and related topics; Create and maintain appropriate user and administrative training documentation. May conduct training presentations in-person or virtually. Assist with tracking and organizing program sessions and assist with curriculum planning. Work to understand client's business needs above and beyond the immediate requirements. Function both as an individual contributor and team player. Provide quality customer service and serve as an exemplary representative of IS. On-going communication, feedback and follow-through with customers/peers are essential. Performs other duties and special project as assigned. Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree required. • 5+ years experience as a business analyst, application analyst, or similar role in information systems, client services, program/project management, or related field. • Strong computer and technical skills required. • Experience with data and data management strongly preferred; Familiarity with SQL and database experience is beneficial. • Intermediate proficiency in desktop applications, including Excel and PowerPoint, required. • Experience facilitating meetings and providing end-user training is required. • Previous experience in fundraising, healthcare, non-profit, or education environment is a plus. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required: • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Strong communication (writing and verbal) skills • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams, including staff at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical personnel • Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds and levels within and external to the organization • Ability to manage workload and competing priorities to complete tasks in a timely manner • Ability to be flexible, versatile and adaptable in day-to-day activities. Working Conditions: Diverse Brookline Village/Huntington Ave. location and near the Longwood Medical Area. Office environment with travel occasionally required for meetings at medical and patient care areas and other Mass General Brigham or DFCI locations. Supervisory Responsibility: The Business Analyst may take the lead on small or medium size projects managing tasks assigned to other team members including application analysts, programmers, and other IS/fundraising staff. Administrative/project lead experience helpful.
