Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking an Informatics Analyst II to join the Research Data Services Team. The Informatics Analyst II will act as research data navigator to help investigators obtain clinical and genomics data for various research projects. The incumbent will help define requests, develop cohorts, obtain governance group approval, develop analytics and provide education for the Dana-Farber research community.  The mission of the Research Data Services team is to support easy access to high quality clinical and genomics data while complying with all relevant institutional policies and government regulations. Research Informatics for Operations is a subdivision of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Informatics and Analytics department led by the Chief Health Information Officer. The team is a significant component of the Clinical Research Support Unit for the DF/HCC consortium and specifically addresses the growing technological needs of the clinical trials research community. The office provides a collaborative, responsive, integrated and focused approach to all aspects of systems development and support. The Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center is comprised of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School and the Harvard School of Public Health. Research Informatics for Operations supports clinical trials research informatics systems for the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center member institutions with regards to oncology research. The Informatics Analyst II will be responsible for defining investigator data needs, assisting with the request submission and providing data analysis support. The incumbent will work under the guidance of the Manager of Research Data Services and the Research Informatics for Operations Management team. - Manages end-to-end Concierge Data Request and Approval Process for investigators and research teams
- Conducts meetings with investigators and their teams to understand and interpret research data needs
- Works as a liaison between the requester and data governance bodies (e.g., User Committees) to ensure that requests are approved in a timely manner
- Generates feasibility and custom data reports using SQL, BusinessObjects and other data analysis tools
- Addresses any issues that may arise during the data request approval process quickly and efficiently, escalating as needed
- Identifies changes that will improve the ease of use of the data and the data delivery process
- Build strong relationships with the Research Informatics for Operations customer base
- Works with Informatics and other cross-functional teams to provide outstanding customer support
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for available clinical and genomic data as well as the Research Data Request and Generation processes and provides user assistance, as necessary in these areas
- Participates in the development of online resources that provide information on data, applications and support
- Works with other informatics groups to ensure the quality of the data
- Works with senior research leadership, Informatics leadership and all levels of informatics staff to improve all aspects of the data request process through process and software enhancements
- Participates in training and documentation efforts to ensure that the research data request process can be used effectively by a wide range of investigators and staff
- Will be expected to rapidly learn about Dana-Farber Research applications, data, and processes
- Identify and resolve issues; facilitate appropriate escalation for timely resolution.
- Communicate status on various project/program efforts to leadership, internal stakeholders and manage expectations, as appropriate.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss team and project/program related activities, issues, changes, and communications, as needed.
- Utilize Dana-Farber Cancer Institute values to govern decisions, actions, and behaviors
- Bachelor’s degree required (Computer Science, Business, IT, Healthcare, Biology or other relevant healthcare/life sciences related field preferred)
- 4+ years of direct analytical work experience as a business or applications analyst or reporting specialist in a customer facing role, in an academic and/or healthcare setting required
- 2+of experience working with business intelligence tools, such as BusinessObjects, Tableau or other business intelligence tools required
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design required
ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS: - Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams of 5 or more indirect resources, including coordinating the efforts of researchers, technical staff and data governance groups to accomplish business objectives.
- Knowledge and experience working with clinical and/or genomics data strongly preferred.
- Experience in clinical research study design, data analysis and protocol compliance strongly preferred.
- Experience training users in the use of data, applications and data analysis tools.
- Experience designing, managing and optimizing business processes using software systems.
- Experience using statistical software packages, such as SAS and R, a plus.
