Responsible for the overall organization, coaching, supervision and recruiting of an NCAA Division III Equestrian program in accordance with all NCAA, Commonwealth Coast Conference, University and departmental rules, regulations and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include coaching student athletes in both showing and practice situations.
Recruiting talented student athletes within the rules and philosophy of both the NCAA and Salve Regina University to include attendance at all open houses.
Work with the Associate Director of Athletics to monitor and promote satisfactory academic progress and NCAA compliance.
Work with the Equipment Manager to order appropriate equipment/uniforms and to facilitate the issue and return of such.
Attend all department and conference meetings and perform other related administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Must adhere to all NCAA/CCC/Salve Regina University rules and regulations.
In particular, all coaches and athletics personnel are charged with being knowledgeable of, and assuring and monitoring compliance by all student- athletes, staff and assistant coaches with applicable governing constitutions, by-laws, rules, policies, interpretations and regulations of the NCAA, the University and the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Staff members shall immediately advise the Compliance Office if there is reason to believe that violations have occurred or will occur and shall cooperate fully in any investigation of possible NCAA or Conference violations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with internal support personnel to include Athletic Trainers, Sports Information Director, Office Coordinator, Compliance Officer, Facilities Director, Scheduling Coordinator and Game Management Supervisor in the performance of their duties.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
A valid chauffeur's license is required. Current CPR/First Aid certification is required prior to assuming responsibilities.
Incumbent is subject to both inside and outside work, and could encounter extreme weather conditions.
Attendance at collegiate institution required.
Experience with equine showing and lessons.
Three to five years equine/coaching experience required.
Ability to handle stables and horses.
Recruiting experience a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills and a solid work ethic required.
