The Impact You'll Make in this Role As a Quality Engineering Manager (QM), you will provide leadership for developing and executing our global quality plan for fluorochemicals, specialty fluids, fine chemicals, additives and coatings in alignment with our strategic plans and quality first mindset. The QM will develop and energize cross-functional / cross-divisional teams by fostering close collaborations with our global business, manufacturing, quality, laboratory and supply chain to ensure mutual, global success. The QM will embrace a customer first mindset and engage in effective customer communications and continuous improvement. He/she will bring unique technical insights and subject matter expertise in fluorochemicals and fine chemical synthesis, filtration, and processing that will guide teams in 3M's commitment to PFAS stewardship and sustainability.

Leading and energizing a Quality team that honors diversity and fosters positive global partnerships to support the development and execution of business and lean value stream strategic plans.
Providing technical leadership and subject matter expertise to guide quality and manufacturing teams in targeted, continuous improvement projects.
Establishing statistical process control (SPC) and in-line testing for a comprehensive run to target strategy.
Establishing filtration and post processing methods for "right the first time" quality.
Ensuring compliance and adherence to environmental, health, safety and regulatory requirements and policies
Promoting sustainable solutions and adherence to 3M's commitments to PFAS stewardship.
Incorporating industry specific standards and expectations for products sold into industrial, semiconductor, automotive, medical and regulated markets.
Providing project management oversight of continuous improvement and PPU programs, including tracking critical A3 projects and KPI's (e.g., COPQ, DPPM, etc.).
Promoting a customer first mindset based on voice of the complaint, risk-based thinking, error proofing (Plan-Do-Check-Act) and influencing skills.
Leading Design for Quality efforts for new product development in collaboration with Lab, Application Engineering, and Manufacturing. Provide coaching and expertise in Design Reviews and quality tools (VOC, LHOQ, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, control plans, etc.). Ensure VOC is translated to robust quality plans that are seamlessly executed at the factory level.
Supporting customer communications, including quality communications, contract negotiations, audits, etc.
Providing expertise in ISO 9001 and Quality Management Systems.
Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher in a Chemistry, Engineering, or STEM discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Six (6) combined years of experience working in a Quality, Product Engineering, Six Sigma Black Belt, Laboratory and/or Manufacturing/Production position in a private, public, government or military environment
Experience in working with fluorochemicals, specialty fluids, fine chemicals, additives, or coatings in a division or manufacturing setting, including training and understanding of environmental, health, safety, regulatory and compliance issues for regulated materials.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Organic Chemistry, STEM, management or related discipline
Quality management and/or leadership experience in a quality, manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or R&D environment as exemplified by Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Black Belt, etc.
Demonstrated expertise in leveraging global teams to implement complex continuous improvement projects across multiple divisions, business organizations and plants.
Proven leadership and skill in developing high performance, global teams by promoting global collaboration, intercultural sensitivity, and respect for diversity.
Expertise in Quality engineering tools (e.g., Design Reviews, HOQ, PPU, Statistics, APQP, FMEA, control plans, PPAP, etc.)
Experience in new product commercialization (NPI), change management, complaint management, supplier management, auditing (ISO 9001, IATF 16949), and QMS.
Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international
