This position will serve as the 4-H Program Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County and under the leadership and oversight of the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and the 4-H Program Manager, will provide program implementation and administrative direction, management and coordination to the 4-H Program. This position will assist the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager with the planning and development of programming and resources, and will coordinate and implement programming for a menu of 4-H programs and program activities. This position will work closely with the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager to expand/develop science, technology, engineering and math programs for delivery during evenings, weekends and in the after school programs and will provide program implementation and administrative direction, and coordination for all aspects of 4-H volunteer efforts to include, but not limited to: utilizing existing volunteer programming resources to recruit new 4-H volunteers; provide orientation and training of 4-H volunteers; and provide ongoing follow-up to volunteers that ensures initial and continued 4-H club success. This position will lead the coordination of large 4-H Community Education Programs, to include but not limited to: Mad City Money, Environmental Awareness Days, Farm and Home Safety Day, etc.

This position is a full-time non-exempt position - 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position is $17.28. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, NYS retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.
Master's Degree or equivalent education (Bachelor's Degree with four (4) years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience).

Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in the development of innovative 4-H Youth Development educational programming and strategies.
Assist the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in research, identification and selection of existing resources for program use.
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in structuring 4-H Youth Development programs to meet the diverse needs of the community and program participants.
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager with developing/maintaining Extension/Cornell University faculty connections for guidance with program development.
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager to make program changes as needed based on evaluation outcomes.
Work in cooperation with 4-H Youth Development Issue Leader, 4-H Program Manager and other 4-H Youth Development team members to help develop programming for the Youth and Family Program area.
Delivery - 55%
Teach existing innovative 4-H Youth Development educational programs as defined.
Utilize a wide variety of proven educational methodologies in program delivery efforts.
Apply existing subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans necessary to deliver high-quality educational programming.
Serve as subject matter resource in the area of Youth and Family Development to staff and participants, community organizations and the general public.
Work to foster acceptance of the 4-H Youth Development program, methods and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.
Implement and facilitate a menu of educational after-school activities, as needed, at the after-school programs to include, but not limited to: environmental science and natural resources; healthy living; community service; life skills development; cultural activities (i.e. art, music, and theatre).
Implement and facilitate 4-H programming and activities, to include, but not limited to: County and State Fair; Ag Extravaganza; Environmental Awareness Days (EAD); Student Government; Fort Drum Outdoor Adventure Day; Farm Safety Day; and Mad City Money.
Provide educational program efforts via mass media.
Deliver educational programs as a part of multi-association efforts when identified/appropriate.
Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Youth and Family Program staff to achieve Association goals.
Evaluation - 5%
Implement program evaluation as designed.
Interact with program participants to obtain evaluation data.
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in the process of analyzing program data, and based on that analysis, assist in making recommendations for improvements in program offerings.
Communicate evaluation findings to constituents as appropriate.
Direction - 10%
Work in cooperation with team members to help establish priorities and objectives for the Youth and Family Program area.
Assist the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager with planning the delivery of established 4-H Youth Development Program goals.
Assist the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in the design of a system of ongoing involvement of 4-H volunteers and community members which express the demographics of the community (including Fort Drum).
Assist Youth and Family Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in planning educational programs and program delivery initiatives in assigned programming areas.
Assist Youth and Family Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in the planning of 4-H fund development activities as appropriate.
Assist the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader, 4-H Program Manager and other 4-H Youth Development team members in planning major public events and programs (i.e. County Fair, Fort Drum Outdoor Adventure Day), including the planning of mass media efforts related to upcoming events and programs.
Management - 10%
Provide support for the 4-H Volunteer Program to include:
Recruitment of new 4-H volunteers and ensure all volunteers have the required screening documentation.
Provide volunteer orientation.
Serve as an accessible resource to volunteers by providing follow-up support to ensure initial and continued 4-H Club success.
Provide support to 4-H volunteers utilizing existing resources, including, but not limited to: implementation of all aspects of the Volunteer Involvement Policy (VIP), providing support to 4-H Leaders, contributing to newsletters, distributing 4-H club enrollment packets and providing 4-H project resources and instruction as appropriate.
Provide support and assist with problem solving when needed, to program volunteers in accordance with established practices and procedures, involving the Youth and Family Development Program Leader and 4-H Program Manager when appropriate.
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in managing 4-H fund development activities as appropriate.
Coordination/Operation - 5%
Provide volunteer training
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader, 4-H Program Manager and other 4-H Educators in organizing and coordinating all program activities related to 4-H Programming (i.e. County and State Fair; Ag Extravaganza; Environmental Awareness Days (EAD); Student Government; Fort Drum Outdoor Adventure Day; Farm Safety Day; Mad City Money; and Dairy Festival).
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue Leader, 4-H Program Manager and other 4-H Educators in coordinating all aspects of the 4-H volunteer enrollment and reporting process and ensure all volunteer files, paperwork and communication has occurred in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Assist the Youth and Family Development Issue Leader and 4-H Program Manager in coordinating program activities that foster a robust 4-H volunteer program, including, but not limited to: recruiting initiatives and events, recognition events, and other programs and program activities as identified.
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue leader, 4-H Program Manager and other 4-H Educators in coordinating a menu of educational after-school activities at the after-school programs to include, but not limited to: environmental science and natural resources; healthy living; community service; life skills development; cultural activities (i.e. art, music, and theatre).
Assist Youth and Family Development Issue leader, 4-H Program Manager and other 4-H Educators in the coordination of effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.
Collect evaluation data and program needs assessments from program participants based on existing evaluation framework and guidelines.
Effectively maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
Participate in required training to meet SACC (School Age Child Care) licensing regulations.
In cooperation with Supervisor, Youth and Family Issue Leader and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.
