Position Details: One temporary, part-time, hourly employee, working approximately 16 hours to 28 hours per week, starting as soon as possible, covering the SoCal VBOC service area (San Diego, Orange County/Inland Empire, Los Angeles). Frequent travel within the service area, including some overnight travel, is required. The VBOC's primary mission is to deliver the Small Business Administration's Boots to Business and Reboot program on 10 military bases in Southern California. Topics covered in the 2-day class include: entrepreneurship, market research, small business economics, legal structures, financing, business planning and government contracting. We are seeking an experienced instructor/facilitator, with small business experience, who is comfortable working on military bases. We will provide training on the curriculum. Salary Range: Placement 3 on the Professional Experts - Hourly Salary Schedule. Compensation: $52.00 per hour.

Basic Function: Under direction, this position is responsible for the deployment of the U.S. Small Business Administrations Boots to Business program in accordance with the Cooperative Agreement and district policies and procedures; and perform related duties as assigned.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. 1. Participate in the delivery of the SBAs Boots to Business training program on military bases included in the Cooperative Agreement.
2. Provide business training and counseling to Veterans, Guard, Reserve and military-connected family members in the areas of business planning, start-up and growth, financing and management.
3. Work with SBA District Offices; resource partners including SBDC, SCORE and WBC; and other economic and veterans organizations throughout the SoCal VBOC service area.

Education & Experience: Experience with small business development and operations.
Desirable Qualifications: 1. A military Veteran or have experience working with military personnel in a military environment. 2. Coursework or background in accounting and basic economics.
Licenses & Other Requirements: A valid California drivers license and the ability to maintain insurability under the districts vehicle insurance program.

Primarily sedentary with intermittent standing, walking, bending and stooping; occasional light lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds; ability to work at computer, including repetitive use of a computer keyboard, mouse or other control devices; ability to travel to a variety of locations on and off campus as needed to conduct district business. Travel is required within the region the VBOC serves. Additional travel may be required by the SBA.

Working Conditions: Primarily business office environment; subject to frequent public contact and interruption; intermittent exposure to individuals acting in a disagreeable fashion. May work at any authorized facility in the SoCal VBOC service area with occasional evening, weekend and/or holiday hours required on an as-needed basis.
