The Location: (flexible) Chicago, IL / Dallas, TX / Centennial, CO
The Role: As a Rating Analyst, you will participate in the evaluation of the credit quality of governmental enterprises-specifically those financing water and wastewater projects and municipal electric utility agencies-as it relates to their ability to repay debt obligations. You will be responsible for aggregating data and information to present to rating committees. You will interact with clients, make presentations, and prepare reports for internal and external distribution. This position will also include managing and processing large data sets.
The Team: The USPF Utilities team maintains a strong culture of analytical excellence and customer service in a supportive and collegial environment. We are a national team looking for someone who can get up to speed quickly. Rating analysts are a key part of the success of the department and make meaningful contributions every day.
Your Skills: A supportive team is critical to growing the skills of any junior staff member, but a key feature of the position is the ability to work with little supervision. In addition, you should have the ability to think critically and clearly express and defend your opinions verbally and in writing. Quantitative analysis is also part of the everyday work mix, so you should also have demonstrated skills in that area.
The Impact: US Public Finance is an important sector of the capital markets and is a key funding source and growth driver for many areas of the US economy. If you are interested in helping to facilitate this growth while challenging yourself in a fast-paced environment, this is the right position for you. This position will give the successful candidate the opportunity to contribute to a strong talent development culture that values integrated and high-impact analysis, service excellence, diversity and empowerment.
What's in it for you:
Build a career with a global company. This position is a junior position, but with expectations for upward mobility. Advancement will be available to those who show a strong aptitude and embrace the municipal sector. You will work on a complex portfolio of credits that will allow you to learn new skill sets
The USPF Utilities group will provide you with the opportunity to build on your sector knowledge and interact with utility enterprises across the country. As your career progresses you will have the chance to speak with the media and at conferences or write opinion pieces on the sector.
