Monday - Friday: 9:00am to 5:00pm (occasional weekend and evening hours).
The Writing Center serves the entire college community and supports the development of the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students as writers and researchers.
The position requires knowledge of Writing Center pedagogy and the ability to supervise consultants and other staff members in assisting students with all aspects of the writing process. The Director manages the day-to-day operations of Molloy's Writing Center and represents the Center's mission and goals throughout the college community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise the administrative assistant, the consultants, work/study interns, and graduate assistant. Manage all the services, meetings, and projects of the Center, and oversee the hiring of staff; develop and facilitate meetings and training activities.
Create and maintain the Center's schedule. Develop initiative that clarify the nature of the Center's services for its personnel and for the entire Molloy College community, as consistent with the mission of the College, also determine and oversee implementation of Writing Center policies that promote and expand the Center's resources.
Conduct public relations and ongoing outreach efforts to promote the Center through written and oral presentations, print and online advertising. Collaborate with faculty to enhance student performance and standards, and represent the Center in routine or ad hoc dealings with the administration and faculty.
Participate in campus-wide or external meetings, committees, or teams, as requested and/or approved by the Associate Dean for Academic Services. Design, manage, and present workshops, seminars, and other programs to meet the needs of faculty and students, and provide consulting to individuals and groups in various aspects of academic and scholarly writing, and mention students as they compose non-traditional assignments, such as PowerPoint presentations, digital essays, and other media formats.
Develop and maintain assessment tools for data collection processes, such as Student Profile Analyses, student and faculty surveys, and end-of semester reports, also Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Writing Center and determine strategies for improvement.
Create and implement outreach events to promote the Center's work, and supervise budget transactions and oversee Center resources.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in English or Writing (preferred)
5-8 years experience
Microsoft (Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Jenzabar Software (preferred)
