The Lab School of Washington is seeking a Purchasing and Special Projects Manager
to lead the operations logistics functions of the School.
The Purchasing and Special Projects Manager reports to the Associate Head of School for Finance and Operations and is part of a collegial, high-energy Business Office team. This is a full-time on-campus position. The current software requires working from our office in Northwest Washington, DC, however, we anticipate upgrading our systems so that the position can become remote at least two days a week, if that is the preference of the new manager.

Major Goals of the Position:
Convert current paper process to digital purchase order system.
Support the administrators, teachers and staff in sourcing classroom and administrative materials and supplies, technology hardware and software, furnishings and other equipment essential to the running of the school.
Identify, purchase, and distribute the materials needed at the best pricing and in a timely and ethical fashion.
Manage logistics for special projects such as inventory and distribution of emergency supplies, furniture and people moves, COVID testing, equipment servicing, and winter weather updates.
High degree of integrity, trustworthiness, and confidentiality.
A bachelor’s degree in the liberal arts, business or communications is preferred.
At least five years of experience in a similar role required, ideally in independent education, although a background in corporate, nonprofit, military or government sectors is welcome.
Technologically fluent, particularly in Microsoft Excel, Word and purchasing programs. Open to and able to learn other software programs quickly.
Extremely organized, able to multi-task effectively and attentive to detail.
Professional and gracious demeanor and presentation.
Proactive, optimistic attitude and positive spirit.
Flexible and eager to learn.
Excellent, grammatically correct, and tactful oral and written communicator.
