The Impact :
S&P Global is seeking an experienced and innovative Pricing expert to join S&P Dow Jones Indices as Director of the Pricing Center of Excellence. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing the Pricing Center of Excellence to centralize (and codify) pricing knowledge, define/refine company-wide pricing policies and guidelines and ensure pricing governance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, and conduct extensive data analysis and modeling, market research, strategy formulation, and clear communication of pricing recommendations. This is a highly analytical role that requires pricing analysis to consider data from multiple sources and develop complex pricing models. The role will maintain updated product level demand forecasts in support of SPDJI's product portfolio.
You will report to the Head of Commercial Excellence and work closely with the Commercial (Client Coverage, Channel, Marketing) Product, Legal and Finance teams. You will develop a deep understanding of the business models in which we operate and articulate your expertise to help our leadership team take critical pricing decisions tied to our business strategy and market changes. You will cultivate a high-performance culture of client-centrism, disciplined execution, collaboration, innovation, and integrity. You will help strengthen commercial excellence within SPDJI, drive greater efficiency, and strengthen controls.
The Pricing Center of Excellence will enable stronger commercial excellence capabilities within the Commercial organization. This is a strategic capability and there is opportunity to grow this team to encompass 1-2 pricing analysts managed by the Director of Pricing.
Develops, evaluates, and implements regional and global pricing strategies and models for all lines of business and product categories based upon current business and competitive market dynamics
Define/refine regional and global pricing policies and guidelines including floor prices
Drive excellence in creating and streamline pricing structures for different Indices products and solutions
Creates/administers pricing databases and coordinates implementation of pricing proposals and discipline across the organization
Model and analyze opportunities to create pricing and pro-forma deal profitability - taking in market trends, competitors' prices, marketing strategies and profitability
Synthesize external trends with internal data including profit margin and customer segmentation analysis
Collaborate with Product and Client Coverage teams to identify product demand patterns and trends for predictive modeling and long-term forecasting
Takes a strong leadership position in identifying customer pricing opportunities and grow the pricing excellence capabilities/awareness across the commercial organization
Lead and articulates entire pricing solution from quote to final presentation fluently, driving collaborative discussions and decisions, and modify pricing model as needed
Produce monthly sales performance reports, scorecards, KPI's, etc. to determine success and accuracy of pricing models
Manage contract compliance, ongoing tracking, and monitoring of prices/discounts
Enhance pricing guardrails and governance including escalation process
Codify pricing knowledge from different parts of the organization (e.g., Finance, Legal)
Provide pricing negotiation support to key accounts (as requested)
Identify opportunities for process and efficiency improvements and the next generation of pricing tools
8+ years of reporting, analytical and pricing related experience, preferably within the financial industry.
Previous experience in consulting or finance/strategy role in a large organization preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economic, or technical field required.
Graduate degree in business, economics or finance preferred
Advanced mathematical background in generative modeling, predictive modeling, capacity planning
Proven business sense, with a good foundation in business financial and business strategy principles
Superior strategic and analytical skills with ability to draw key insights, develop clear recommendations and enable decision making
Proven ability to quickly establish creditability, trust, and support within a dynamic cross-functional organization
Process improvement mindset to generate innovative suggestions that improve pricing performance
Comfortable with high level of ambiguity and complexity
Outstanding attention to detail and strong project management skills
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skillsets; knowledge of SQL, and Python/R preferred
Track record of building strong working relationships and collaborating across teams
Track record of working independently, and leading multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience in developing effective forecast and pricing models, along with development of demand forecasting for use in financial planning
Previous experience working with one or multiple forecasting and pricing BI software tools for planning, data visualization, historical reporting, pricing optimization
Experience developing and presenting analysis and reports for an executive level audience
Demonstrated ability to influence and effectively connect stakeholders at all levels across a highly matrixed organization
Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills in a team setting, including extended teams where members are not always direct reports

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $133,700 to $277,700. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
