Legal Specialist - Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSAS)
Location: Dallas-Fort Worth, TX or Atlanta, GA
McKesson's well-regarded Law Department is seeking an experienced Legal Specialist to support and assist McKesson's PSaS Pharmaceutical Technology and Innovation segment, which includes the licensing of SaaS and ASP services to pharmacies, health systems and hospitals. You will also have opportunities to work on various special projects. This position reports to Managing Counsel.
PSAS Pharmaceutical Technology and Innovation segment is a business unit of McKesson Corporation that provides innovative technologies that support retail pharmacies, health care systems and hospitals. This business supports our customers, with a comprehensive, expanded portfolio of solutions designed to help them drive business growth, realize greater business efficiencies, deliver high-quality care, and better manage inventory and their 340B Program.
Unique opportunity to join PSAS legal team as a Legal Specialist focusing primarily on the Pharmaceutical Technology and Innovation segment. You will be a critical member of a collaborative and innovative team managing all legal matters for the company's technology team. You will also have the ability to develop critical skills and demonstrate readiness for increased responsibility.
Draft and review contracts and provide guidance on contract standards;
Participate in contract negotiations;
Identify, analyze, research, and resolve complex legal and business issues and make appropriate recommendations;
Identify risk, determine the level of risk and route appropriately;
Monitor compliance with business and legal processes and policies;
Coordinate with legal team and relevant business units on multiple projects and workstreams;
Help develop best practices for business units and Identify opportunities for process improvements, develop plans and manage implementation; and
Serve as liaison with multiple business units and cross-functional groups.
2-year Associates degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with 6+ years related work experience, or 4-year degree (preferred) with 2+ years related work experience
Requires 2-4+ years of relevant work experience in a Legal environment
Experience in drafting and negotiating contracts
Mastery of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Power Point required
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with senior executives
Excellent interpersonal skills and research skills
Keen attention to detail
Superior ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in an efficient and timely manner
Excellent business judgment and strategic thinking
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced team environment
Thirst for learning
Willingness to pitch in on special projects and ad hoc assignments, including research and contract review and drafting
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Prefer experience in healthcare and information technology business.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with business unit leaders and promote the reputation and integrity of McKesson and the McKesson General Counsel Organization.
Experience working in a healthcare regulatory environment preferred, including Federal Anti-Kickback Laws.
Process improvement experience.
