DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Animal agriculture is the largest sector of agriculture, contributing over $5.8 billion to Georgia's farm gate value. Assuring that the livestock and poultry sectors remain healthy and productive is one of the top priorities of the Animal Health Division.
The Animal Health Division consists of veterinarians and support staff, all diligently working to ensure the continued protection of animal and public health, food safety, animal welfare and successful livestock production.
Under general supervision, performs complex administrative duties and statistical, financial, or operational data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making related to cooperative agreements and other functional areas as assigned.
Identifies trends, discrepancies, and variances to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
Partner with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, and vendors to address business issues, complete ordering, and fulfill cooperative agreement reporting requirements.
Exercises various latitudes of independent judgment.
May administer or provide high level support for various projects, grants, contracts, implementation of procedures, and/or any specialized functions.
Assists with orientation, training, or providing task guidance of junior team members.
Limited travel is possible.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science or related field.
Familiarity with livestock, animal diseases, and/or animal husbandry.
Four (4) years of administrative support or program management experience.
At least three (3) years of experience working in a support role for a senior member of management.
Experience managing, tracking, and reporting information and other measurables for grants.
Experience with public messaging and social media platforms.
Ability to pay attention to detail and perform at a high level of accuracy.
Excellent organizational skills; and
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
