About the Role:
The Senior Architect, Cloud Data is a member of the Chief Data Office and plays a lead role in the overall design and implementation of the Clearinghouse’s Enterprise Data Ecosystem, a cloud-based architecture which provisions data to enable the delivery of National Student Clearinghouse’s services. The Senior Architect works at the direction of the Managing Director of Enterprise Data Management to instantiate business logic in our Enterprise Data Model and to employ innovative, cloud-based concepts and technologies in the delivery of our Enterprise Data Ecosystem. The Senior Architect will also oversee the full enterprise data delivery lifecycle as they design and implement solutions in accordance with company and departmental policies and procedures and with an eye towards future innovation in support of the Clearinghouse’s data science and research goals.
The Senior Architect works with Solution Architects, Data Engineers, Senior Management, and other internal and external partners to deliver well-architected data assets to enable the Clearinghouse’s product teams to provide industry-leading transaction-based and analytic data services. This position requires a successful background in enterprise database architecture, cloud-based data technologies and the full lifecycle of data delivery.
Currently, this position is 100% telework, however, as our company starts to return to our new normal, a hybrid work pattern, this position may be required to periodically work on-site at our office, and the frequency would depend on the department/division's requirements. Therefore, candidates must either reside within a reasonable distance to commute to our office, or be willing to travel to our office in Herndon and/or Pittsburgh, when required.

We reasonably believe that the salary range for this position is between $153,000 -$179,000 annually.
What You Bring to the Table:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. A combination of education and experience, including military service will also be considered.
10 years of hands-on technical work with data architecture, database technologies and applications.
1-3 years of related AWS cloud-based data platform
5 years of technical leadership experience.
A solid understanding of the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
Demonstrated experience and expertise with:
Enterprise Data modeling and Database design, Data Warehousing, Master Data Management and Metadata solutions (experience with Data Vault architecture preferred).
Data architecture strategy, planning, and program execution.
Collaborating with business users to understand business and functional requirements and incorporating these into the overall enterprise data architecture.
Authoring required conceptual, logical, and physical data models and data architecture artifacts.
Establishing and leading data architecture governance processes.
Cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
Creative problem-solving and innovative solutioning.
Exceptional communication skills, with the demonstrated ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization, including management.
Live within a commutable distance of Herndon, VA or Pittsburgh, PA or may be performed remotely from any of the following states: AL, CA, CO, FL, GA, KY, ME, MD, NV, NJ, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA, WY.

Additional Desired Requirements:
AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Big Data Certification, preferred.
Use of a computer for 8 or more hours a day.

Frequently required to sit for 7 or more hours per day. When in the company office, required to work in close proximity to others in an open office environment.
Occasionally required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, and reach.

Must be flexible to do out-of-town assignments, and travel via car, train, and airplane occasionally when needed (up to 10%).
