S&P Dow Jones Indices Research & Design The team Our team is made up of a mix of quants, researchers, and machine learning engineers. You will be part of a vibrant, fast-moving team and environment. As an analyst you will collaborate with other analysts and specialists within the Research & Design team to develop new S&P Dow Jones Indices covering thematic equity topics, with an emphasis on creating new Kensho indices.
About the Kensho Indices The S&P Kensho Indices use machine learning, artificial intelligence and natural language processing to model the industries and innovations at the heart of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The S&P Kensho New Economies utilizes both advanced natural language processing (NLP) and quantitative overlays to provide market participants with a novel framework by which to capture the structural changes in the global economy.
What's in it for you This role provides an opportunity for you to develop and enhance your knowledge in the indexing space. You will gain exposure to alternative data sets, sophisticated index portfolio construction techniques, and a broad and robust range of qualitative and quantitative methods in finance in a complex and dynamic industry.
Your Responsibilities: Play an integral role in developing the industry models that underpin new Kensho and thematic indices. As such, you will take the lead in, as well as contributing to, research and product development. You will be working with team members and groups across the organization to help develop the business and provide thought leadership to both the organization and clients. We are a small team and thus it is essential to effectively leverage all available resources.
You Will:
- Help drive the expansion of our existing Thematics index families, with an emphasis on the Kensho New Economies family of indices
- Take the lead on researching and designing industry models that are used to identify the companies driving key disruptive technologies and timely investment themes
- Translate often amorphous high level investment targets into actionable details to determine an industry's design
- Lead the group's deep dive fundamental research on key developments, trends and best practices impacting the thematic investment space Write finalized index methodology documents for external use
- Contribute to thought-leadership papers and blogs for brand promotion
- Effectively manage multiple projects and deadlines which involve requirements gathering, data gathering, analytical thinking, index research and design, documentation, etc.
- Develop, and contribute to, original research, working closely with other teams to develop ideas
Qualifications: - A proven track record in equity research, portfolio management, or index design
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of equity investments, with an emphasis on growth and innovation focused companies
- Familiarity with systematic investment processes
- First class communication skills - verbal, written and presenting
- An independent strategic thinker
- CFA Charterholder
- A higher-level theoretical understanding of NLP methods is a nice to have. Prior hands-on experience working with NLP based models a strong plus, but not necessary to excel in this role
- Intellectual rigor and high-quality analytical skills

S&P Dow Jones Indices provides iconic and innovative index solutions, bringing transparency to global capital markets. S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $122,200 to $279,200. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
