The Role: Director, MI Strategy & Corporate Development

The Location: NY/NJ, Virtual US
The Team: The MI Strategy & M&A team works closely with the MI business leads to help guide and define the consolidated strategy of the Market Intelligence division of S&P Global. In addition to setting long-term strategic ambitions for the division, the team leads all division-level acquisitions and divestitures, corporate development/strategic partnerships, long-term financial planning and competitive intelligence in partnership with the Corporate Strategy Team and the Enterprise FP&A Team. This small, nimble team is responsible for evaluating all significant new investments for Market Intelligence and defining the requirements for delivering future growth.
The Impact: Partner with business leaders across the division to shape and execute MI's growth strategy. Report directly to the VP, Finance & Strategic Decisions and lead or support a wide range of strategic and M&A initiatives, in accordance with the division's top priorities. Inform and influence high impact decisions by the division's top leadership, including the CEO and CFO.

Responsibilities:
M&A/Corporate Development

Help build and maintain MI's acquisition pipeline, including domain priorities, strategic rationale, and profiles of top targets.

In partnership with Corporate M&A, key functional leadership (finance, HR, legal) and product/segment management, drive M&A processes from strategy development and target screening through valuation, negotiation, due diligence, and post-merger integration

Prepare presentations for MI and SPGI executives and the Board to secure approval for transactions and keep senior leadership abreast of deal and integration progress

Manage external stakeholders across origination and deal processes, including bankers, PE/VC professionals, company executives, etc.
Strategy

Assist in MI's 1 and 5-year strategic planning processes. In partnership with MI FP&A, help develop the financial forecasts that support and enable our strategic plan

Support the creation of Board and SPGI Operating Committee materials and contribute to divisional quarterly reporting processes

Partner with MI's business and functional teams to build our growth strategies, develop business cases to support their execution and establish KPIs to monitor their performance

Assist with MI's competitive intelligence and benchmarking responsibilities; provide thought leadership on emerging trends and business threats/opportunities
Qualifications:
-
3+ years of relevant work experience required.

Management consulting, investment banking or corporate strategy experience strongly preferred; knowledge of B2B information services and/or financial information services a plus

Demonstrable experience and robust prior training in developing strategic frameworks, applying them to complex business problems and translating them into practical, actionable project plans

Skilled at communicating strategic narratives clearly and simply in PowerPoint. Strong slide design capabilities and exceptional attention to detail required

Self-motivated worker with experience developing organic and inorganic business strategies and financial models with modest manager guidance

Proven track record leading cross-functional teams towards common deliverables and goals. Comfortable managing stakeholders across a matrixed organizational structure

Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and make recommendations to senior stakeholders. Background in statistics a plus

Functional experience working with and analyzing company financial statements
-
Collaborative team player with effective written and verbal communication skills
-
Proactive, with an innate sense of urgency and accountability; able to deliver results with short lead-times

Compensation/Benefits Information:
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $122,200 to $279,200. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
