We are seeking applicants for the role of
Quantitative Associate, Index Investment Strategy team, to be based in the New York office of S&P Dow Jones Indices.
The Index Investment Strategy Team's mission is to enhance the reputation, relationships, and revenues of S&P Dow Jones Indices. We provide research and commentary across the full range of indices, with particular focus on the active-passive debate, factor indices, and index dynamics. Our thought leadership promotes index-based investing, trading and benchmarking to a variety of financial market participants, providing actionable insights at a variety of sophistication levels and frequency.
You will work with a global team to create and promote research, commentary and analysis that improves understanding, awareness, and appreciation of the role of indices within investing, trading, and benchmarking. You will play also play a critical role in the oversight and operation of S&P DJI's global SPIVA(r) database, which is a key component of one of the firm's most important research franchises. You will assist in the production of reports on the global performance of actively managed funds on a regular schedule, as well as seeking ways to enrich and extend our client's understanding of the relative performance of active funds. Your contributions will help grow interest in a market-leading range of indices, including world-famous benchmarks like the S&P 500(r) and the VIX(r), as well as a truly global range covering all major asset classes and indicators. You have the potential to work on a wide range of investment topics, calibrated for a wide range of sophistication levels, from the basic case for passive investing to the effective use of factor and thematic indices in a portfolio context.
Activities span the development and delivery actionable insights across a range of formats. You will:
- use a scientific approach to analyze market, investment, and index trends
- support the creation and maintenance of analytic and reporting tools
- help produce original research papers
- produce regular market commentary and analysis
- learn how to present your work in public forums
Responsibilities include:
- executing on relevant research topics
- helping produce and maintain a range of regular dashboards
- answering one-off requests from clients and management
- support producing content for public dissemination and distribution
You will work will support a team of colleagues based in London and New York.
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $68,300 to $121,700. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

- Collaborative, creative, and curious approach
- Excellence in written and oral communication
- Experience with PYTHON coding language
- A postgraduate qualification and client facing experience are a plus
- 2+ years of experience in financial services
