The Simulation Technician works under the direction of the Director of Experiential Learning and in collaboration with the UG and Graduate Simulation Center Coordinators, Learning Resource Coordinators, undergraduate and graduate faculty to provide technical support for simulation center operations.
Job Responsibilities: - Assist with technical assistance to support experiential learning experiences in the Simulation Center days and evenings, Monday-Saturday during the academic year.
- Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Conduct ongoing maintenance of all simulation technology
- Collaborate with Director of Experiential Learning, other Simulation Center Coordinators, Learning Resource Coordinators, and Clinical Course Coordinators to assist students in meeting simulation, lab, and clinical objectives.
- Assist with maintaining the calendar of events for the simulation center.
- Assist with scheduling of students.
- Manage reporting of simulation usage.
- Support in role playing, placement of props and moulage set-up.
- Assist with manikin and simulation resource troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Maintain records or repairs and upgrades.
- Assist with packaging nursing skill supplies.
- Assist with special projects or initiatives as directed.
- Assist the Director of Experiential Learning with equipment sourcing.
- Maintain vendor relations.
Assist staff and faculty with development of new skill modules.
Education / Experience:
- Associate degree in technology or a health-related field is required.
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous simulation lab experience preferred
Must be able to independently move equipment (<25 pounds)
Competencies / Skills:
Experience in simulation and technology preferred but not required. Familiarity with computer hardware and software applications relevant to healthcare simulation. Coordination, collaboration, negotiation, and advocacy skills. Proficiency with simulation equipment (manikins, task trainers, videotaping) and computer skills (excel)

Physical Demands: - Normal sitting, standing, and walking throughout the course of the day. - Periods of extended computer and telephone usage. - Requires dexterity and data entry skills. - Requires familiarity with health care technology and simulation center laboratory equipment.
Lifting requirement to <25 pounds.
Mental Demands: - Ability to think through clearly amid changing priorities and circumstances. - Maintain professional attitude and demeanor in competitive and challenging environment. - Ability to multitask in a very busy academic environment. - Exercise sound judgment. - Maintain high level of confidentiality. - Ability to be creative and negotiate effectively to create high quality learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
Monday – Friday, possible Saturdays and evenings: 35 hours per week
