The Impact You'll Make in this Role
The person hired for this position will join a technical team and be exposed to many facets of manufacturing. This position is ideal for someone looking to showcase individual talents and gain the experience to grow personally and professionally. This unique assignment will allow for direct interaction with key business leaders in the areas of manufacturing, quality assurance, product development, marketing, and finance, as well as outside vendors.
As a Process Engineering Specialist/Technologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by ensuring global products by:

Driving significant cost, quality, and process improvements using Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing methodologies, and statistical methods.

Providing tactical support for day-to-day operations as well as complete longer-term continuous improvement projects.

Identifying and implementing capital projects that lead to safety, cost, and yield improvements. Working with our Division Engineering team on the installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Working with suppliers to remedy incoming raw material discrepancies and quality improvement projects.
-
Leading the scale-up and launch of products via the eNPI process.

Completing process capability studies and make recommendations for process improvements to meet industry capability standards.

Defining and installing on-line measurement tools to improve process capability.

Participate in ISO 9001:2015 efforts and ensure conformance to the standard via the documentation of manufacturing procedures and SOP's for specific work centers.

Completing the customer complaint process, including identifying and eliminating "root" causes of the issue.

Participating and leading cross functional teams and Kaizen events that lead to improved methods.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
-
High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)from an accredited institution
-
Eight (8) combined years' of research and development, process, product and/or manufacturing experience within a private, public, government or military environment
-
Three (3) years New Product Introduction (NPI) and scale up experience
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role:
-
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university, in Mechanical Engineering , Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
-
PLC programing experience.
-
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and perform root cause analysis problem solving
-
Strong personnel computer skills, including the use of statistical software for SPC and design of experiments
-
Self starter, along with strong written, oral, and leadership skills.
-
Knowledge of web handling, laminating, slitting, and paper manufacturing.
-
Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
-
Experience using MINITAB statistical software.
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic or international
