• Oversee program, mission, and vision for unit, seeking to serve off-campus students, students who are expecting/parenting, adult learners, transfer students, working adults, foster care alumni, and fully online learners. Continue to evolve unit scope of service and populations as emerging student groups are identified;
• Lead the tri-functional work of the unit: advocacy, education of stakeholders, and direct student service;
• Provide leadership across the division related to student populations targeted by the unit through research and data collection;
• Serve as an advocate and liaison to major campus programs representing the contemporary student interests;
• Direct educational opportunities for students moving off campus;
• Serve as a UL liaison to the Office of Military Services;
• Develop and manage budget in coordination with the Administrative Assistant and Budget Manager;
• Develop and execute annual assessment plan; implementation of assessment into programs
  and services;
• Advocate for contemporary students through university and divisional committees;
• Oversee Student Parenting Workgroup, Family, and other initiatives and resources for parenting and pregnant students;
• Cultivate philanthropic and advancement opportunities for contemporary populations in partnership with the Director of Advancement;
• Educate university offices and staff on how to best serve contemporary students;
• Manage the Town-Gown relationship, including relationship with Mason's Government and Community Relations unit, and collaborative efforts with Mason Parking and Transportation, Housing and Residence Life, Auxiliary Services, Dining/Sodexo, and other key service units;
• Develop and implement stronger pipeline program for students moving off-campus from on-campus residential facilities, including expanded services and recruitment of properties in Fairfax, Arlington, and Prince William counties;
• Supervise and develop professional development plans for professional and paraprofessional staff;
• Participate in development and implementation of new departmental and cross-unit/division
  initiatives;
• Report to the Associate Dean, University Life; and
• Serve on university committees as determined by VP/AD.

• A master's degree in higher education, student personnel, counseling or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
• Significant (generally five (5)+ years) professional experience in a higher education or relatable education environment that shows advancement into progressive leadership positions;
• Demonstrated working knowledge of contemporary students, including but not limited to off-campus students, adult learners, online learners, students who are parenting, and students who are military/veteran;
• Demonstrated understanding in working with student transitional issues, experience designing, developing and executing large-scale programmatic initiatives that span many stakeholder groups;
• Vital to possess exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and have experience in leading among diverse populations; and
• Demonstrated experience designing assessments and ability to analyze data and create meaningful outcomes.

• Highly developed organizational management and problem-solving skills, Attention to change management, and ability to work accurately and efficiently to meet a multitude of deadlines and responsibilities;
• Demonstrated ability managing a budget in strategic ways and capitalize on available funds to maximize impact;
• Demonstrated leadership abilities;
• Have had full-time staff supervisory experience and possess the ability to create a staff development plan that encompasses full- and part-time professional staff, paraprofessional staff, graduate students and undergraduate student leaders;
• Committed to diversity and be comfortable working within diverse populations;
• A doctorate or advanced coursework is preferred; and
• Flexibility to work evening hours and weekends throughout the year is a position requirement.

Salary: Salary starting in the low $80k's: Commensurate with education and experience.
