The Impact You'll Make in this Role
As an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Maintaining reliable operation of high-tech, production-scale CNC micromachining equipment and laboratory equipment used in a wide variety of research and development programs across the company. No experience is necessary with CNC machine tool equipment, but it would be helpful.

• Working closely with a small group of highly skilled machinists and engineers on tuning, optimizing, and troubleshooting the performance of these high-precision machines. The work environment is clean, indoors, and climate controlled.

• Learning and applying expertise in electrical-mechanical systems, electronics/computer controls, motor/motion control, hydraulics, pneumatics, temperature control, instrumentation and sensors for process control, programmable logic controllers, etc.

• Leading and implementing small projects to upgrade or address obsolescence of systems and components.

• Working with engineers to support larger capital projects and improvements.

• Willingness to be on-call to come in outside of your normal working hours, if necessary, to help address machine performance problems.

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Possess or pursuing a two-year degree or higher in Maintenance/Engineering of Industrial Automated Systems, Electrical/Mechanical/Controls (Mechatronic) Systems, Automated Packaging Systems, or Engineering/Industrial Technology from an accredited institution.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Three years of manufacturing and/or industrial machine tool maintenance/operations experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

• Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Math and trigonometry skills.

• Self-starter with work ethic and a hands-on approach to problem solving.

• Ability to complete work without supervision and work well within a team environment.

• Business oral and written communication skills.

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic travel
