The Role: Regional ESG Account Specialist
Grade: 11 (for internal purposes)
Location - San Francisco, CA or can be flexible with remote option
The Role: As Regional ESG Account Specialist, you are responsible for promoting and consultatively selling a portfolio of ESG products to current and target customers at large multinational corporations, private companies, and/or governments. You will assist in identifying key decision makers and influencers with target prospects and execute a sales strategy collaboratively with divisional sales members, service delivery, product management, marketing, and legal.

Responsibilities:
- Assist commercial teams in identifying new opportunities within the designated territory
- Join and present at appointments with senior level sustainability executives of these organizations
- Be knowledgeable about all ESG products across S&P Global
- Stay up to date on industry specific ESG knowledge necessary to have credible diagnostic conversations
- Coordinate and provide sales demonstrations, prepare proposals, presentations, and co-ordinate Request for Proposal responses
- Maintain focused approach to daily sales activity pipelines and systems-based workflow, using Salesforce.com
- Assist in management and cultivation of long-term client relationships to continue to identify new business opportunities
- Work with clients to advise on integration of ESG data and research in their business strategies and decision-making and supporting them in use of S&P Global's data and tools
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including working with diverse teams in other offices to enable an effective and collaborative approach to implement client projects, track progress, and meet client needs.
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in relevant fields of study: Sustainability, Environmental Science, Environmental Law Environmental Management, Sustainable Resource Management, or Public Policy or relevant certifications preferred
- Understanding of the global ESG landscape and sustainable finance marketplace, including key drivers and trends that are shaping the ESG marketplace
- Knowledge of ESG data and its relevance to various use cases and stakeholders
- Awareness of corporate risks and opportunities associated with climate, water and biodiversity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to executives and speaking at conferences
- Business acumen, good negotiation skills and persuasiveness.

- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a positive "can do" attitude
- Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel and Salesforce.com
Preferred Qualifications:
- A sharp intellect, commercial acumen, creative approach to problem solving in a new and innovative industry and an entrepreneurial attitude
- Understanding how financial markets operate, and also in particular how multinational corporations are evaluating and incorporating ESG and climate issues in their decision-making
- Knowledge of corporate business processes and how ESG issues create company value or avoid risk. Understanding of corporate environmental sustainability best practices, in particular related to ESG disclosure, supply chain and supplier ESG risks, and accounting for environmental and social impacts.
- Understanding of evolving ESG-related regulations, current and emerging reporting frameworks which may include Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, environmental markets and carbon pricing and voluntary reporting initiatives such as CDP and DJSI.
- Understanding of some of the following: ESG risk and opportunity analysis by investors and banks, corporations, Portfolio climate risk assessment and TCFD reporting, use of environmental data in financial products, corporate sustainability strategy and performance, environmental profit & loss accounts.
- 5+ years of experience in a new business sales role or account management role with targets or management consulting to corporate companies
- Experience working with large multi-national corporations, or professional services organizations in a client service, sales, and/or product support role/setting
- Ability to travel to offsite meetings if government travel advice permits
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only): S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $91,500 - $190,100. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
