This position is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of weekly and biweekly payrolls for exempt and nonexempt employees in an outsourced payroll model. It supports our North America (U.S., Puerto Rico, and Canada) population of approximately 12,000 employees.
Essential Functions of the Payroll Specialist :
Contribute willingly to payroll team efforts. Demonstrate good working relationships within the department. Share knowledge and perspectives as a way of enhancing the work of others. Follow an outlined process with the payroll vendor for submitting pay adjustments using payroll templates and following an agreed schedule. Execute defined controls in the process, such as receiving confirmation of data transmitted, balancing, and auditing payroll entries. Work with payroll provider to anticipate and resolve issues to increase customer satisfaction. Identify and support process improvements to drive efficiencies within payroll processing. Serve as a resource for payroll related issues to resolve grievances or pay discrepancies with employees, HR, legal, accounting, benefits, or government agencies. Reporting for internal and external parties as requested, such as HR, auditors, and government agencies. Support year end processing and special projects. Ability to drive ownership of their area of responsibility to consistently meet deadlines. Other duties as assigned, such as, but not limited to, submission of invoices, filing garnishments, calculation of military time, death benefits or maternity top-up, documenting procedures or tracking metrics

Typically requires 2 years of payroll processing experience. Experience with Workday Payroll is preferred
Knowledge multistate US payroll processing and Canada payroll legislation and taxation is preferred
Proficient with Microsoft office applications, including Microsoft Excel
Experience working with a vendor in an outsourced payroll model is preferred
Familiar with Workday HCM, Workday Help, Workday Time, and SAP.
Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to participate effectively in a team environment.
Well-organized, attention to detail and a self-directed individual. This person must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize while under continuous deadlines maintaining professionalism and a calm demeanor.
American Payroll Association FPC, CPP or Canadian Payroll Association PCP certification a plus.
