Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is accepting applications for a dynamic Assistant Director, Event Management. Reporting to the Director of the Joe Crowley Student Union, the Assistant Director is responsible for the planning and execution of complex logistics within the Joe Crowley Student Union (JCSU), including marketing and scheduling of bookings within the event and meeting spaces of the union. This position is responsible for the management and supervision of the student employment program, event management/scheduling area, and technology services staff of the Joe Crowley Student Union. This position works directly with administrators at the highest level of the University, Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), student leaders, and state government officials in the planning and production of sensitive and often controversial programs as well as those with extraordinary physical plant challenges and technological demands. The ideal candidate initiates program development and program assessment within the union that complements student recruitment and retention activities as well as those that enhance the reputation of the union as the center of campus life and community.
The Assistant Director manages financial aspects of events and is responsible for the timely invoicing of facility charges in accordance with university and NSHE fiscal policies. The ideal candidate supervises the student management team of graduate students, event-management student employees and event volunteers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of related professional experience or a Master's Degree and two (2) years of related professional experience.
Related Experience: Experience in event planning, scheduling, or related fields.
Schedule or Travel Requirements
This position will work non-traditional hours including weekends, evenings, and other shifts as needed.
Compensation Grade
Administrative Faculty - C
The typical salary range for this position $65,000 - $75,000. Salary is based on related education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Total Compensation
The total compensation package includes a competitive salary, moving allowance (if applicable), a rich retirement plan, health insurance options that include dental and vision, life insurance, thirty (30) days of sick leave provided upon start date and two (2) days of sick leave accrued per full month after the first year of service, two (2) days of annual leave accrued each full month, along with many other benefits.
