The Department of Technology Management and Innovation at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a part-time, non-tenured instructor in operations research, with a start date of January 23, 2023.
We invite applicants to teach one or more graduate or undergraduate courses. In particular, we presently seek instructors for the following course:
Title: IE-GY 6283 Operations Research - Probability and Stochastic Models
Meeting Time: Mondays 2:00 - 4:30 pm - September 1, 2022 to December 14, 2022
Overview: Operations Research is an applied science that is concerned with quantitative decision problems that generally involve the allocation and control of limited resources. Such problems arise, for example, in the operations of industrial firms, financial institutions, health care organizations, transportation systems, energy and resources, and government.
An operations research analyst develops and uses mathematical and statistical models to help solve decision problems. Like engineers, they are problem formulators and solvers. Their work requires the formation of a mathematical model of a system and the analysis and prediction of the consequences of alternate modes of operating the system.
The analysis may involve mathematical optimization techniques, probabilistic and statistical methods, experiments, and computer simulations.
Objectives: To give students a solid foundation in operations, services and system analysis based upon fundamental principles in deterministic, probability and stochastic models.
You should be an excellent teacher. You should have a graduate degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline and a record of teaching experience in one or more of these areas.
