Lathrop GPM, LLP, one of the nations leading law firms, has an immediate opening for a trademark paralegal. This position could work from one of our following locations: St. Louis/Kansas City, MO; Minneapolis/St. Cloud, MN; Chicago, IL; Washington D.C.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing trademark paralegal support to attorneys and firm clients.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage clients’ domestic and international trademark portfolios.
Prepare and electronically file US trademark applications, renewals, assignments and other prosecution documents.
Correspond with foreign counsel regarding foreign trademark applications, registrations and recordals.
Communicate with clients regarding status reports, portfolio reports, and prosecution issues.
Assist with domestic and foreign opposition and cancellation matters.
Monitor deadlines for trademark matters and ensure that all deadlines are met.
Perform online trademark clearance searches on USPTO, international databases and Saegis.
Coordinate legalization of documents.
Provide support to trademark attorneys.
Act as a liaison between attorney and client.
Assist with intellectual property due diligence.
Maintain working knowledge of process and procedure before the Trademark Office.
Contribute to team efforts to streamline workflows and procedures.
Formal paralegal training from an accredited program, preferably a 4 year degree program.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a trademark paralegal in a law firm or corporate setting.
Conversant and comfortable with the laws that govern trademarks.
Copyright and TTAB experience a plus.
Ability to conduct research utilizing online tools such as USPTO, international databases and Saegis.
Outstanding interpersonal skills and client service skills.
Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
