The City of Cincinnati is seeking a City Manager. Located on the north bank of the Ohio River in Hamilton County, the City of Cincinnati is a major city in the Ohio Valley. Cincinnati has a population of approximately 300,000 and anchors a metropolitan area with a population of 2.1 million. It is the third largest city in Ohio and the 65 largest city in the United States.
The City Manager performs highly responsible management, administrative, and professional duties as the Chief Executive Officer of the City. The City Manager reports to the Mayor and City Council and exercises a high degree of independence, initiative, and professional expertise in the administration and day-to-day management of the City in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines.
The City Manager has overall responsibility for all City departments and provides visionary innovative leadership, supervision, and general direction for the City management team. Responsibilities include serving as a liaison among the City staff and Mayor and Council; local, state, and federal and international governmental officials; Cincinnati citizens; business executives and community leaders; the media and the general public.
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban Planning or closely related field from an accredited college or university required. (A Master’s Degree in one of the areas listed above is preferred.)
Ten (10) years of progressively, responsible, professional experience in the administration, leadership, and management of a large organization, preferably in government.
